It looks bare, dry and hot

Today was probably the hottest and therefore the least effective day for me at work. I need to invest in an air conditioning unit in our offices. I literally lost effectiveness at about 3pm today and found myself falling asleep. I then decided that I'd go out for a short walk around Camden (which is next to where we work) to get something for the photo blog. Such was the heat in the office, out of 40 shots, only this one came out on top. The rest have been deleted.

What a very unproductive day.

very good catch, crisp details on the leaf. Too much headroom for me, I think this will be more effective with a tighter crop.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Dotun...I'll tryout your idea.
One is all it takes, I like the obviouse focal point. The background is verging on distracting but being blurred it gets away with it. Overall i like itsmile
Jide Alakija: Sigh! I guess I should have moved the car before taking the shot! Thanks Nigel.

To you, it looks bare, dry and hot. This looks way too cool to me. smile Stuff like this is very close to my heart.
1 out of 40 is not bad, man. My ratio is somewhere 1 out of 100. smile
Jide Alakija: WOW! That's an interesting hit rate. I normally hit it 1 in 2 or 3 at times.
Its just a leaf...that is what astounds me most...brilliant.
Jide Alakija: LOL...it's the little things in life that makes the world so beautiful.

It looks bare and hot...but it doesn't look dry. Love it!
Jide Alakija: Thanks Jaycee.
brilliant shot of the otherwise mundane

any reason for 1/4000s at iso 400?
Jide Alakija: I was planning on catching a biker riding in the background and I wanted a high shutterspeed. Also because of the fast moving clouds, there was an intermitted change in the lighting conditions during the shoot.

I was basically trying to replicate what I did when I was in Lagos. See this shot - http://alakija.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Surreal/

Love the simplicity of this and the tiny bit of leaf that is in focus - that's all you need. I think I agree with Dotun about cropping though - as you scroll down it does look better tighter.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Ingrid.

Jide Alakija: Thanks Bob.
To crop or not? Works for me either way. Nice simple shot.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Bill.

For want of a better word, beautiful.
Sure a crop would look nice too but that would be a slightly different picture. this works because one has to scroll down to find it and there it is in a corner, crisp, bright, alone but not lonely. It suggests hope exists if one bothers to look beyond the blur that we often confuse as life.

I am rarely envious of anyone, not even David Justice or Eric Benet for being once married to Halle Berry, but I am envious of your photography talent and skills.

God Dey!
