My VI|

This is the Island my parents live on in Lagos Nigeria. It's called Victoria Island. It used to be a true island that was surrounded entirely by water. Now it is has been joined (by the process of sand filling) to what is now known as Lekki Penisula.

I learnt from wikipedia that the earlier colonial government began the process of filling in the eastern swamps to reduce mosquito breeding areas.

Mentioned on Aisha's blog that one rarely get's to see aerial view shots of Lagos, and then you come along and post 2 back to back smilesmile
Fantastic shots, Lagos looks so different from above smile

Quite alot of those Lekki building's have or are been erected without the appropriate and adequate foundation structures. "There may be trouble ahead....."smile

Right under the bridge is Ozumba Nbadiwe,Victoria Island, one end has The Nigerian Law School, and the road was just renovated. The company that did the renovation,Lekki Concenssion Company(i think thats the name) got an award for socila development from the UN based on the job done on the road, they plan to extend the renovation and widening of the road straight to Lekki,Ajah
