Frances #1

It's been very quiet on the blog, comment wise. I'm getting a lot of views but not many comments. I'm getting very lonely guys. You might not realise it but your comments really encourage me. When It's really quiet I'm not sure what you think of the shot.

Please please somone out there say something...anyway this is a recent shot from a shoot I did for a friend who is just designed some cool outfits. What do you think of the clothes?

Great shot. The dress is wonderful. I love the colour combination.

And is it okay to say that she is Feakin' Gorgeous. Yikes.
Jide Alakija: I'm sure it's okay to say so and yes she is very pretty. As usual the subject made the shot.

Men you already know she a really gorgeous babe, (she looks familiar, do I know her?)

Anyway I absolutely think your PP is divine on this shot. The dress is cool, grin

Jide Alakija: Thanks man. You remember her because she's Vickii's very good friend.

Well I loverd it even before I saw her as Frances is one of my favourite names.

Now that I see her, well she is of course as lovely as her name, made more so by that most engaging smile.

But your composition and processing lift it into the superb bracket. She has a china doll look about her.

Jide Alakija: Thanks Colin. I'm sure she'll like your comment.

Mr Alakija.......

The composition is Fantastic!

I like the way Frances "SHINES" out from the dark background.....

And she has a lovely smile....... smile
Jide Alakija: Thanks Demibi. How areyou?
Yep I agree with everyone. She absolutely shines in this shot. Almost divine!!!
Jide Alakija: Good to see a response from you today. I was almost thinking that many were already bored of Alakija.com, I have loads of portraits that I've taken recently but get the feeling that not many like seeing them, but some do.

When I have nothing to post I'll post a good portrait.
I can only echo what Chunter says, I agree with him entirely.
Jide Alakija: Thanks P.

It's not your best work but it not your worst either. Love the contrast and how you put her into focus. Love the way the dress is kept and the smile on her face. I don't know how I feel about the angle. It doesn't feel perfect but it is not completely wrong either.
My verdict is that as lovely as this shot is, I would not want it on my wall - if feels too "I am the picture you find in the frame when you buy it from the store"
Jide Alakija: Very strong statement Ovo but I like that you say what you really think about it. I only wish that more people said that with my work. Okay I'm going to do another shot FOR YOU tomorrow and I'm hoping it's going to be more than what you expect.

Only just started following your blog (I found you via a comment left on flickr), and haven't yet commented. When I've seen more of your stuff and worked out your style, I'll start to comment more.

If this IS a "picture you find in the frame when you buy it", perhaps you could sell it to some frame manufacturers? Worth a try!
Jide Alakija: Thanks Oli for your comment. I'm not sure I have a privelent style yet on my photoblog, I do know what I like in my shots, I use this platform as a test bed for my ideas. Maybe when I find more time to shoot I'll post stuff more in line with what I like.

This is a gorgeous picture of Frances, she looks gorgeous! And I love the fact that you can barely see the murky stairwell ... oh, and Ugoma's dresses are absolutely gorgeous!

Suby, of course she looks familiar, you spent and entire evening with her at my place.

So you thought, put a pretty girl up to garner more comments abi? Lolll.

This is a nice photo and Frances always looks beautiful (photogenic cow! love you really!) but its not the best one of her - you took some other stunnign photos that I saw. Develop them already! When do we see the full body of work?
[email protected], it works anyway, pretty girls do get you comments...one of those shots where the processing pales in comparison to the actualy shot taken, lovely lovely smile...

I'm just chiming in. I know how discouraging it can be to not get many comments. You have a lot of great work here, so don't let it get you down.
You know me bro if I really like something then I'll say it would be an image that I'd buy and then buy it. This is not one of them, I really like the angle and her dress is superb I also Like the pp you've done on the lovely Frances but somethings missing that would elevate this to your usual standard but I don't know what that is.

Hi, love the photo and also the dress. Where is it from? I need a dress like that for a wedding.

Great portrait Jide. I like the light of her face. She just radiates...
She is gorgeous and the photo has done her justice. Well done
hi Jide, I agree Florence, she really radiates, i like the composition and the expression of the model and how you have processed this shot. (and of course there's a lot of your shots i like)

i know what you mean about a quiet blog ;-) sometimes i think my work is not good enough to be in my blog but... I can't avoid it, the meaning of my photos is to be shared... (you're invited to visit it) smile best wishes from minorca, spain)
Nice picture. Lol at your 'say somthing guys!' plea. The flip side of it though is that you also have to endeavour to visit other people's blogs, particularly those that visit you, and leave comments as well, as they like you are susceptible to lonely blog syndrome. It does get very daunting though when you have lots of comments, as thats lots of blogs to visit, but hey, its a 2-way street baby! grin
Jide Alakija: I totally agree and in a sense was expecting some people to say that same thing. It's important that we all develop as a community. So on that note I think I'll be heading to your blog.

The issue for me though is that I am really wondering what's up with the 150+ views I'm getting with people not saying anything, it's a different thing if you're not getting anyone viewing your work. You see what I mean. Silent visitors.

the dress looks good on her smile hi jide how have u been?
Jide Alakija: Thanks Mo.

I've been well...you?
Yes, I like the clothes. And the image too — very subtle colours. I really like your portraits with the dark, moddy backgrounds.
Beautiful portrait
