Oghor #1

Well this is along the lines of some portrait styles that I have been working on recently. I have another one in this same process tomorrow.

Oh and this is Oghor, a good friend who I worked with this weekend.

awwww...mean mugging oghor...

I like the intensity in her eyes but I dont get the hands...wats happening? pray tell
Jide Alakija: This is a concept shot, Oghor was playing with the scarf and I asked her to put it forward as if she was about to cast some magic or a spell....do you think it works now?

The eyes demand the attention of the viewer don't they. Great use of light and dof.
Jide Alakija: LOL...yup Jon they do, I think that's what I was going for when I did this one. Thanks again.

Me digging the style bro, you got the eyes perfect here, we got to organize a shoot you and I in the next few weeks, get like 2 or 3 models and go crazy smile Meanwhile 1. Where the African images. 2) CD of images?

Jide Alakija: As we concluded over the phone, let's get cracking but let's not make it too complicated, I'm not very good with those. I'm still learning the whole head shot thing, still can't do much below the chest.
Cool shot ..
Jide Alakija: Thanks, I have a shot for you, I used your camera to do it. Check it out on Wednesday. wink
nice!!! how did u light up her face? reflector or speedlight?
Jide Alakija: A combination of a low sunset, standing on a log of wood and a reflector angled at about 45 degrees from the ground. smile
Lovely light on her face. She is pretty. I'm not sure about the hands, they seem to distract me, and I'm more curious about what is going on with them.
Jide Alakija: Sorry Laurie, as with most of my portrait, I was going for a magical concept, I tend to try and use the space in case I'm going to use the shot for a promotional piece, do you think it works now?
Ahh...well...I think the concept you are going for is kind of lost because it's quite unclear without an explanation. I think if it was taken at a greater distance with a little more DOF then it would work better. Does that make sense?
Jide Alakija: Ah....loads of sense....we'll that's a point for debate but I see you point. Thanks for your input. I'm going to try it when next I do another one of these shoots.
oh I see.......

why wasnt I consulted? I think I'm resigning

something about the eyes, its bordering too perfect and artificial..I think a subjects eyes should never be that white unless say she was covered with a white sheet etc.
Jide Alakija: LOL...guess what I didn't whiten the eyes as much this time, she has very natural white eyes.
Is that a snake? Oh just read....it could be oh lol. She looks like an amazon lady
Jide Alakija: I like teh Amazon thought to this one. Thanks E.

Why does Oghor look so pissed?! lol. I know her as well. We went to primary school what feels like a lifetime ago. She looks extremely natural. Very, America's next top model, stripped down, back to the roots look. lol. i like it. Not quite sure what she is doing with her hands but she looks good. smile
