Bunmi's Makeover

I got sometime to look at a shot or two from last weeks shoot over the weekend so I'm posting up my work.

Here is the image I promised Bunmi. The lady hiding behind the fan in this shot. She's probably wondering how the make up appeared on her face, well, I think I'll let her in on a little secret. When I was processing the shot I realised that something was missing in her expression. I ended up applying some "digital make up" to her face. I'm not entirely happy with what I've done with the lips though but since this is not something I do everyday I think I've done a pretty good job.

I've also put the "un-made up" version of this shot here.

Please tell me what you think about this one, I'm very intrigued.

I think you've missed your calling yet again. Come on down mister make up artist ! Ok Jide ignore my advise about the books, keep posting if you can do both. I read some very interesting articles over the weekend about photoshop and photography. Anyone see the Photoshopper thing ? By the way I do like this one over the original. My god what am I saying, I LIKE a PHOTOSHOP image !

Interesting, different, works for me, although not exactly 100% sure about the skin. I'll get back to you on that one grin

Funny thing is Bunmi really is going to be very famous as I have a shot of her queued for tomorrow. wink

Wow Jide, now you are a digi makeup artist too lol. I love what you did though. I also like the expression on her face. It made me laugh.

nice PP here Jide but I think it not 100% for your standards smile Around the nose seems to be uneven compared to the rest of the face.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Dotun, I'm not even sure what my standards are any longer. I'm sure you'll help me with that one. wink

This is certainly an eye-catching shot. I'm not much of an expert in portrait photography (so perhaps I should keep my mouth shut and hands tied), but I'm not 100% about the catchlights in her eyes. Is it a bit over the top? Especially her right eye seems to have a wayward light outside the retina.
The digital make-up job looks okay to a non-expert like me. I can see that the skin has been softened somewhat and suits the overall result quite well. Personally I'd be pretty happy with it.
Jide Alakija: You and Jon have got me thinking about the catchlights now! THanks for the comments Peter.
Damn! you're good!grin

Love the light and the soft skin tones, it really makes the texture of her hair stand out. She's another pretty girl too Jide. Post more like this wink

One thing I would like to point out, and it's a question more than a criticism. Isn't it better to have a single catch light in the eyes?
Jide Alakija: You know I never looked at that aspect of the shot, but since Peter and you have mentioned it it does look off. Thanks Jon.
lower lip...there is something not right about her lower lip (right side lower lip) probably because the light is brightest at the subject's lower right side.

Very cleverly done Jide.

The only bit I'm not sure about, and I think I've got a cheek to say it, is the shine beneath her nostrils.

I prefer the made-up version. It adds so much to her expression and definitely complements it.
This was really very, very nice. I'm fascinated by what you can do with software. I'd like to get in mine for my own digital make up too please - Is there a long queue? (smile)
