Star Flower

I can't remember the name to this one, all I know is that when I was very little I used to pluck them and suck the sweet nectar out of them.

I didn't get any opportunity to process anything today and I have a big wedding to prepare for tomorrow so nothing spectacular tonight.

Oh this shot was taken on my trip to Lagos, Nigeria where you have loads of these little flowers.

Cool photo. It would look good framed and hung on a dark coloured wall.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Andrew...something to consider.
hey jide,

i really like the tone and the dof on this one. the details...the water droplets, the turn of the petal, etc...are really quite nice. i have never heard of these flowers. you just suck the nectar out of the center?
Jide Alakija: hey nicole,

According to dedun they are called Ixora. Yes you could suck out the sweet nectar from the middle.
Very nice....that water droplet does it for me...
Jide Alakija: Me too. Thanks.

jide wen r u gonna teach me this wonderful tones and detail? huh? u think say na only u sabi enjoy accolades and good comments? Now where is mi photoshop book.
Jide Alakija: Hmmmm...."The Photoshop Channels Book - Scott Kelby" I bought it and returned it after an hour of reading it. I learnt a lot about channels from it. So try it and you'll learn how I did such an image as todays.

What do you think of a weekly shutterchance photoshop tutorial session on the forums? I have to put up something to intruge you there i guess.

Great shot! The treatment you've given this is A+ for sure. What really makes the image though, is the little imperfections on the left side of the bottom most leaf. The processing makes it look almost manufactured otherwise...

Seems like everyone can do the low-key, decaying flower thing except me smile

Nice one Jide. Like it.
