I really should find something rather abstract to shoot. I keep using portraits to bail me out when I have nothing to put up.

This was a shot from a recent photoshoot I had to do for a bag retailer. When the shoot was done, I grabbed the opportunity to get Sarah to provide me with the atmosphere to try some experiments. This is a sample of what she came up with. A good model always makes your job easy. Thanks Sarah.

Overall i like the shot though i do have a few gripes. With the veil/shawl there you should have gone for greater dof. Also your selection is a tad odd as you appear to have her back in sharp focus. What is there of interest in the strap?
Jide Alakija: Focusing through a veil is very challenging. I focused on her face before I too the shot! Mind you she was moving around and I caught this moment. This wasn't a pose!
hey jide,

i know that you were experimenting with portraits a little while back. i think that this is one of your best experiments. i love the way you have captured her face through the veil. i actually really like the dof on this shot. nice work jide.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Nicole. Now I think I'll put up another shot from this shoot tomorrow.

I like how her smile and face is partially showing through the scarf. It jumps out at me with one word - attractive. Very subtle and calm background colours, I like.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Mia. Tomorrow's should be better.

Lovely...but the strap, why does she have a white strap with that top? It just doesn't seem to belong with the outfit...I know it really has little to do with the shot, I just noticed what looks like a strap the doesn't fit with the outfit, and I am not a fashion bug either.
Jide Alakija: Sigh! Oh well then I'm sure tomorrow will help!

very attractive model (my eyes keep going to that strap though). nonetheless, nicely captured.
Jide Alakija: This strap thing is now becoming annoying. Thanks anyway.

I think you have a great eye and it's a wonderful shot.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Jonnyg
I love the lighting in this shot. Do you use a hand-held light meter, or rely more on your camera meter?
Jide Alakija: Since I was shooting in Aperture priority I normally rely on camera metering. The Sun was in a good position on that day too.
beautiful shot...i love the hilight from the sun..great capture
Jide Alakija: Thanks.
Very alluring. I like the mystery.
Jide Alakija: Thanks for dropping by. I have another shot following this shot.

p.s. I assume the Ade has told you how it's just got harder to follow your blog. I'll look at home when I can
Jide Alakija: Yeah, Ade told me. What a shame. I've been marked by not just your company but some others too. Sigh!

I love this photo. I think it's fabulous. One of my favorites.

I must ask, could I download this? Feel free to say no, but it wouldn't be for printing or using in any way, just to go into my "inspiration" file. I know I could just keep the link, but a link won't always be there ya know. Let me know if I can smile
Jide Alakija: I don't see any reason why you couldn't download it.
