about
Time is no mans friend. I'm really believing this more and more everyday. The tasks on my todo lists every day has constantly been reducing...what I mean is say for instance I start off with 10 items for the day I only get 5 done, so the next day I set out to do 7 tasks instead, I get 4 done, the next day I set 5 tasks, only 2 get done.....what the heck is going on....Time! That's what it is...some how it looks like the longer the list the less time you realise you have, so you end up working harder. When you have less to do you percieve you have more time and get less done.
So then you'd say fill up your list with tasks....true but it's very demolarising when you come to the end of the day and find you haven't even completed what you've set out to achieve. This is a shot from my time at Portobello. My obsession with headshots is reflected in this shot. I wanted to have it isolated but somehow I thought something infront happening was more fitting. What do you think? Do you like my 3D work on the face? Here is the original to see what I've come from with this one.

Great shot! I was asking myself... is this real? Looks like it is
can't see the link to the original. Is it real?
Jide Alakija: Sorry about that. I've posted it now.
Wonderful and somewhat disturbing shot. Very strange.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Michael.
interesting and strange but i like it
Jide Alakija: Thanks Mallory.
true, time waits for no one! I like the way the lady is looking up...as if she saying "God i need more time"..lol
Jide Alakija: Thanks DamyB.
It's like 3 generations here with the baby, the mother and then father time. I like this even as it is eerie too.
Jide Alakija: Hmmm....that's a deep thought. Thanks Suru.
i love the 3D work on the face, you treated the original excellently well. Great shot
Jide Alakija: Thanks Haastaa.
Top stuff mate
Jide Alakija: THanks Shola.
very nice, the pink in the foreground works really well too.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Simon.
Is this a portrait of Beckett we are looking at? It certainly resembles him. Great 3D work, Jide.
Jide Alakija: Thanks.I'm not sure who it is.
I think this is cool, really creepy, but cool none the less. The woman with the stroller is so unaffected by the dark menacing face, although I do wonder what she sees above her that has captured her attention.
Jide Alakija: I wonder too. Thanks Laurie.
Love this shot Jide! How did you get it to come out this way? I'll be calling you for tips...
Jide Alakija: THanks. Waiting for your call....
awesome treatment! i can relate to your words on time.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Lizzie.
Mr Alakija, this one absolutely rocks!
Jide Alakija: Thanks Feyi.
I have a pic of this that I took in 2005. I couldn't resist taking a photo as soon as I saw it. Love what you have done with it.
Jide Alakija: Would be nice to see yours you know...I'm sure there will be some subtle differnces from mine...maybe less weathered.
AM LOVING THIS ALAKIJA..
Top Job..
Jide Alakija: Thanks Mate.
You need to stop worrying about time as there's nothing you can do to alter it but you can managed your task so that they become douable but still challenging.
I love what you've done with this Jide, it doesn't just have the wow factor, it stops you in your tracks and makes you look, really look at it. Nice one. J
Jide Alakija: Thanks Johnnyg.
I find it really earie and interesting. In a good way. I also enjoyed seeing the original because as someone who rarely edits I'm always wondering how much of a difference there is between what I start with and what other photographers who's work I like, start with. I really like the 3D work on the face, the only thing I would do different is crop out her feet and everything below. The reason for that being then you're not sure when looking what is real and what is the mural and that to me makes in much more interesting.
Sorry for the long winded reply here.
Jide Alakija: Please keep your replies long...I love them. Thanks
great stuff Jide, the face looks familiar???
Jide Alakija: Thanks Gary! Who does it look like?
Wow - is more fitting. It really grabbed my attention.
na wa oh...now u bring inanimate things to life! so wat else do u have up ur sleeves Mr. Alakija?
Almost like something huge (like a tornado)is about to happen. Excellent digital work here Jide. I think foresight is such a gift...as u knew what you wanted when you saw the picture. Again we need to meet oh... I need to pull your brain {ok now i realise how terrible that sounds}
Jide Alakija: LOL....Remember I'm specialising in event photography and photojournalism with my work so it's imperitive that I have foresight before I take a shot!
One of your great gift is artistic integrity. Showing the original picture and the finished product is a clear demonstration of integrity, which (in my opinion) is more inspirational than the --excellent- picture itself. Keep up the good work. You are a fantastic artist.
Well observed, my friend.
just looked at the original. how'd you do it? really great stuff. i like.
Maravillosa e increíble.
Brilliant shot. Very throught provoking
Brilliant shot. Very throught provoking- you have really given it depth in comparison with the original.
WOW! THIS IS THE BEST SHOT ON THIS SITE!!!!10/10
This is a disturbing photo. The 3d effect is clever. I think if he had been looking at the girl it would be really scary!!
Nice one, i think it has gotten better in this one because the darkness pf the background has brought the face forwards and makes it stand out more. Where in Portobello is this? i don't really get to that park of Loondo but still. And what is all that on his face? paper? Bird crap? or just chipped paint. Either way it gives a nice effect to the face because even though it clearly is of an old man the paper or whatever it is makes him look even older as if the age has come out from the panting onto the wall. As if its a message to sage AGE EFFECTS EVERYTHING....LOL
have you photoshopped it or something to make it darker...if not photoshop then what do you use?
i like this...
jide God has really blessed you with great talent oooo.
Beautiful shoot. The right time at the right moment. Love it.
