The sun was out, I didn't see anyone about, so I thought I'd do something with the rather still object, this was what I came up with. I intend to do a bit more of this stuff. This hasn't quite got the kick I want but it's a good start.
Hope you like it and can you advise on what I can do to improve on it. Post Processing:Increase in Dynamic range, Correction of the Blue curve channel, Lens blur, correction of the Red/Yellow channels in H&S. Update: CHunter has made some interesting alterations to the image which I thought I'd share with you all. Thanks Colin. Mind you it's only a quick and dirty modification so bear that in mind please. You can see it here.

was it a good beer? Nice shot.
Jide Alakija: LOL...Not a big beer fan but thanks for the comment.
It looks like a good beer...
Wonderful tones of blue and I really like the background
Jide Alakija: Thanks Dia.
Just stunning! The depth is nice and i wonder how it would have looked if you didn't add the lens blur (cause the clouds look very attracting)
Jide Alakija: I didn't like the effect without the blur it was competeing with the background. Thanks.
Wooooowwwww.... "I LIKEY"
Jide Alakija: Almost, see more of you than of Suby, I think it's time to get your own blog and Camera...
Wow. It really pops and works for me.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Dave.
Great ! Cool effect! Powerful picture with a nice DOF !
Jide Alakija: Thanks Sidney.
Refreshing!!! Looks like a magazine advertisment. Nice!
Jide Alakija: You know I never thought of that...but thanks.
the blur background is excellent choice effect...making a nice dof and texture...great shot for colors and composition
Jide Alakija: Thanks...
I love it! I think it's really inventive, Jide. My only suggestion would be to show the entire beer label; it would be a nice looking product shot (as long as it didn't look like litter). The blues are great! Regards, Brent
Jide Alakija: Thanks Brent. I intentionally hid the label because I was worried that someone would tell me not to show it all...:S
I sooo like this, loving the colours. It feels like you can almost reach out and grab the can
Jide Alakija: Nice 3D there...Thanks.
I saw this and thought WOW! Blue's not my favourite colour but this shot's doing it for me.
A work colleague looked at this and said "it's a tramp beer set against a modern background" - ironic? The blur of the background pushes the can right in your face - very nice
Jide Alakija: Very Ironic. Thanks
great colors. i love how perfect the sky is. i actually would like it better without the beer can - i don't like it's tall, thin, blueness . . . feels repetitive. maybe another object, organic, like a flower laying on the railing? or a cloth . . .
Jide Alakija: Now that's an interesting spin on things. Hmmm I wonder how that would have looked.
Thanks for the comment.
MATE!!!! This is some Awesome SHOT!! Forget the post processing, it's awesome!! I've been spoken to!
Jide Alakija: THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!
Spectacular. This is the kind of stuff I love.
Jide Alakija: Thanks...I'll do more of it.
Love these types of photos! Really appealing to me. Great blues in the foreground and background. Shoot more of these.
Jide Alakija: I will, I will...not easy but I will. Thanks Micki.
For beer lovers, this may well be a postcard from heaven
Jide Alakija: LOL...You are so comical! Thanks.
Cheap Beer, GREAT SHOT!!!!!!!
Cheap Beer... GREAT SHOT!!!!!
one word AWESOME
Jide Alakija: Smallville?
very great colours! nice idea!!
Jide Alakija: Thanks...I need a reply to my comment on your blog...EXIF data?
No wind that day I pressume?
Jide Alakija: It was actually very windy I was really worried that the can would have been blown into the river. It blew back onto the pavement a few times.
Thanks.
Well not a comment - but I have posted the EXIF data on Musical Books which you wanted - thanks for coming by and commenting!
Jide Alakija: Thanks again.
u have an eye for colour that i really admire and envy
Jide Alakija: Thanks Deji.
Cheap beer, GREAT SHOT!!!!!
Jide Alakija: Ta.....where the heck is "Here..."?
Fantastic shot. definitely has the wow factor. Love the colours esp. the blues.
Jide Alakija: Does it really have the WOW! to it? Thanks!
did youuse HDR on this one?
Wow, this is a beautiful shot. The colors are fantastic.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Kim.
Perhaps you should have shot this with a wider aperture, because somehow the background blur looks fake. At first glance I thought this was some kind of HDR. Apart from that, I love the colours, those blues with a compliment of orange...
Jide Alakija: Nah..not HDR. Sorry about the blur..:$
nice range of blues
Jide Alakija: Thanks Gary.
i like the hue effect in this one
Jide Alakija: Thanks.
following up on my last comment, This is like the BEST!!!!!!! BEST!! BEST!!!!! beer ad. ive ever seen!! LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A BILL BOARD!!!!!! like all i could think of after seeing this one is I NEED A BLOODY PINT!!!!!!! KUDOS TO U!
Jide Alakija: Following up on my appreciation. THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!! THANKS!!!
Firstly, I like it. What could I do to improve it, you asked?
Well, it's pretty subjective, but I would try it again but move in much closer on the can to make it bigger and really stand out. Also move it to the right third because at the moment it's right in front of a busy part of the picture, the jetty, while there's some empty space on the right. I hope you won't mind, but I've played with it in Photoshop to explain what I mean. I'll send it to you using the contact me link.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Colin. I've put a link in the caption with your version. Really appreciate it.
Terrific background with your added lens blur. Beautiful even. I have to admit that it draws my eye every time that I look at the phot
Well done. Except for the tiny bit of shadows on the can and railing, it looks like a professional ad. And I guess since you weren't making an ad, it's just a good shot.
As a side note, lately I've been waivering on how I feel about post-processing a shallow DOF, but how ever I fall on the (digital)age-old photo purist debate, it looks good here.
Love that Jide! Just woke up to do et another night shift and your photo has made me really want a nice cold beer... shame I can't have one till Sarturday!
Keep'em coming!
Beautiful! Love the colors and the composition. you are the post processing guru Jide!
Nice Picture. I like the composition, creativity and color in this photo.
great blue shot
the composition is lovely
the background in d distance makes it seem so peaceful. i like...
Stunning shot. This is an awful beer favoured by homeless people which I think is cruel considering its sounds like 'tenant'.
Fabulous DOF and brilliant colour! I like it!
Thanks for dropping and commenting on my site. Wow, you have a lot of good material here! I love this one! Can't wait to see more of this from you.
Artistic one ! I'm going to get a bottle of french wine to try the same ;-))
