Okay how has the summer been for you? Good? Bad? Hot? Cold? or have you not even noticed the sunny bright season yet? Well for me it's been MEGA hectic. Apart from the normal writing that I do everyday towards my degree, I am heavily swamped with all sorts of work. Don't get me wrong I enjoy 'hardwork' but this is by far the hardest I've worked and this year has also been the most productive too. So I have a lot to be thankful for.
I still ask that question I have been asking since I started this Photo blog, where is it all going? What is it's purpose? Why do I love taking these kinds of pics? You know to the life of me I don't know, I do know that I enjoy the personalities I meet as a result. Photography has opened doors in areas I would not have otherwise knocked. That is the reason I enjoy it.
It's not all lovely though, it's painful. It took me about 30mins to process this shot tonight and I don't even know if it's complete yet. That's another question, when is something complete work? As an artist I am told that a body of work is hardly complete, it's only just brought to a conclusion. I guess thats why this shot has been posted then, I conclude that I will leave it at this for now till I am inspired to do something about it, which I hardly ever based on history.
This is a very interesting. I like the way the eyes and the mouth pop out, but did you notice that the hair coming down her face somehow looks like tears? lol. Or am i overexagerating?
Jide Alakija: Yes I did...but I wanted to keep it natural. I think if you met Ayo you'd understand why her hair is falling that way. She's a bit of an enigma!
jide, did you blurr this picture durring editing? I find it hard to believe that you got such a shallow DOF at f/4.0. It is a nice pic by the way.
Jide Alakija: Nope no blurring. All I've done is a few curve adjustments...all the lighting work was done with panels and shading.
When studying DOF always consider focal length too, and you haven't even asked if I cropped this one or not, and if that had been the case it would have been very possible to achieve this at F/8.0
Quite frankly I used the wrong words...Her head is definitely visible...I wanted to understand the blurred part of her hair and the white dots..now I know those are catch lights..lol. I should have said "can't make out part of her hair"..
Jide Alakija: Ahhhhh! Now I can hear you loud and clear! Well I don't know what to say to that one. Thanks for clarifying.

she reminds me of bjork
Jide Alakija: That's the look she has...thanks Banji
Myself, I'm not too fond of the expression. The hair in front of the eyes prevents the viewer from engaging with the subject. The angle and composition gives the image a bit of an unbalanced feel. Those are the things I'd try to change.
Now stop being a wimp and take your medicine like a man! (your shMood status)
oh Jide i hope you dont mind me saying this but a kind of find this quite scary looking its the stare and expression so intense, well thats my perspective for whats its worth
