A man and his fathers band

Wow! the week has just come to an end and I've managed to post consistently for the first 5 days of it. I'm really happy. I also get the impression that you have all enjoyed it too. I hope I can improve on this for next week. Okay that doesn't mean I wouldn't be posting tomorrow or the day after. Infact I have an image lined up for tomorrow at least.

Your calling. How do you know what your purpose is all about. They say that 10% of us immediately know what we want to do at an early age in life, for the rest they usually work out what they want quite late. I think I fall into the latter category. I am still asking that question what I really would want to do. The trouble I have discovered so far is that much of what I am today is as a result of the impartation of what I've learnt from an early age and in particular by my family. Do you sometimes hear voices screaming at you not to take a particular action in your head? Sometimes you hear the same voices encouraging you to move in a particular direction.  Sometimes these voices maybe hindering you from what your true calling is, I think. Okay please do not take that as meaning that these voices have disuaded me from doing what I ought to be doing in my case I think the voices are the little events that I witness everyday around me. Seeing people failing or even succeeding at what they have chosen to do.

It's a hard life.

Seun, you're a real inspiration.

Your Quest in life is one issue you seem to have been struggling with for years. Yet you still have no answers. Some of us were fortunate enough to have parents who allowed us experiment in childhood, while others were just steered in the direction of the adopted wisdom of that time. As adults,we struggle for expression, something that identifies us, that which has been marked with our name before we were born. If your aim in life is representation, allow me to say that your work is excellent. Your wear your curtains well. However if you want to say something... then decide what you want your pictures to say. I am sure the charm of just pretty pictures are lost on you by now, there is so much more to say. Decide, what will it be? Beauty, conflict, the human soul, life's journey, struggle, confinement, civilisation, evolution,race, culture...? Whatever intrigues you Jide, let your photos stand for onething or even two. You alone are in total control. At the moment, your pictures illuminate the beauty in all, but not the purpose of all. Your work is terrific eye candy, but it's not soul food.

Who am I? A great silent admirer of your work and its evoluton.
@Abobagunwa: That's kinda deep man!

@jide: this man don ask u for plenty o!...soul food no easy to cook.

@Seun Kuti: attended one of his performances in december last year and what I saw amazed me. I didn't see a boy struggling to fill his father's shoes; but a man trying, sweating hard to create/carve a niche for himself.
