about

I'm trying something different. Please go easy on it as I'm not even sure I like it. I took this just before I went off to Italy - It's got a different slant to street photography. In my opinion, it's one photo that tells a story on it's own.

Update: OMG! I just discovered that these images were in a series! I had no idea! You can see more of them on One Way's site. If I see any more of these images around, I'll shoot one.

That's a one pretty damn surreal photograph. At first, I thought you collaged the painting into a street shot. Wanted to congratulate you with a rich imagination! I guess the reality beats even the wildest imagination. I wish the wall was deeper black.

Jide Alakija: Hmmmm...I was thinking of playing more with the colour of the wall too.
Like this dude, might do one this weekend
Jide Alakija: Would have loved to meet up. Too busy.

What a strange place for the painting to be.
Jide Alakija: Yup..it is. Check out the update on the page to see the rest.

Don't take this as a criticism, but I have been wondering of late the quality of the images posted here compared to other blogs.

I see you have worked hard in producing quality images but of late they have not been showing the style that we have grown to love that is your trademark, neither does it inspire one to visit the site. I say this because I've noticed that your visiting rating has gone well below the norm.

I will also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on winning the award which you most deserved, but I can't help but wonder how much longer must we wait until we start to see those images that we have grown to love and that reminds us continually why you are the best in the game.

Just a concern thats all.
Jide Alakija: Thanks....but what are those images? I just put up what I think I like at that particular time. Not easy doing it everyday!
Nice shot! I like this contrast between historic and modern living.

I really like the framing to this one.
Excellent shot! I like the incongruous painting on the wall and the two oblivious guys walking past it. It grabs the viewer's attention and would make an great starting point for an ad (what for I don't know).

To comment No 6, what you have done is criticize Jide's work. Be it constructive or destructive, it is a criticism nonetheless. You need to understand that a gift is a gift. I believe the gift that produces this images, is one that can first of all recognize the beauty in peculiar scenarios and to capture it in unique perspectives. If his visiting rating has reduced as you say, yet his blog still won an award as "best something" when compared to the rest, it clearly cannot be that people are less inspired to view his site because he changed his style (which isn't entirely a bad thing, if he still captures moments that inspires). Appreciate the gift. Some pictures may awe you, others may not. Style is only a matter of preference. At the end of the day, only Jide can define what his trademark should be and that would not take away from his gift.
Nice shot Jide!

In response to Pocahontas, if my comment came across as a criticism that wasn't the intended message. Like you said it is a personal taste. I don't have to like all the images he puts up, in order words will prefer some more than the others, just wondered if statistically it was equivalent - visitors and images put on.

I am a regular visitor of his site and a fan, but don't always leave a comment. Just thinking out loud.

To Jide Alakija, if it came across as a criticism I heartily appologise. Like I keep saying I have been woowed by the images on this site, I guess maybe the ones of late havn't been doing much for me. Me being the operative word.

ps. so you did notice he changed his style. Maybe like all things, the new will have to grow on me.

aww.. checkout the friends engrossed in their conversation oblivious to what is hanging on the wall. Im amazed how you managed to get the painting on the wall to be so clear. NICE.
One thing though, the wall seem patchy is it meant to be like that? cause my eye kept getting pulled in to it..lol.. I think I would have liked it black. You know me and dark backgrounds.. ..hehehe.. LOVE it.

Very well composed, very much liked
Great capture of a fantastic work of art. Worth taking time to see the original ..... and view it from the side to get the full effect. (:o)
