Ndali #2

This is the second shot of Ndali to follow the first shot. I don't think I did the first shot justice. Recently I've been doing a lot of portrait work and now I'm beginning to see a personal style develop - particularly in the natural and emotive view.

What do you think?

Update: My photoblog was voted 'Best Photoblog' at the Black Weblog Awards

The catch light in the eyes are to die for, you said this once before but did you dodge the eyes ? I like this a lot, there's just so much there to look at. f4.0 ISO 1000 ? That's not your 50mm lens so what did you use ?
Jide Alakija: Thanks Jonnhy! No I didn't dodge the eyes. I only increased the contrast.

I shot it at F/4.0 because that was enough to remove the background but at the sametime have the entire face in focus. I normally use my Canon 100mm F/2.8 Macro, for all my head shots. Check out my archive you'll see.
this guy!?!?!!? why now?????
and u'll tell me now that u did nothing to her skin. that she just had make-up applied and blah...blah...blah. Shush!
Jide Alakija: Yes I didn't do anything other than cleaned it up as you usually do. Believe me when I say so. All I've done is corrected the lighting. Look at it properly you'll see that the skin is natural or is there something that I'm not seeing that you are?
Excellent portrait!

Yes Jide. You set the bar. I'm awe-struck by this one. If not that I'd seen the 100mm at work I'd not have believed that you shot this at f/4 smile So seeyou soon, eh?
Jide Alakija: Thanks Bisola...when next are you in Town?
Great work Jide.

Wow. You've really captured her beauty here. I can't quite decide whether her sleeve is distracting or not. I think on a lesser model it might be, but not on Ndali!

Wow.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Steve.
exellent shot.
Jide Alakija: Thanks

Oh well, Ndalicious is a natural beauty, so i cant exactly question how you got her to look this good, i think you should put Ada up as well, let the cat fight begin over who is the finer sister. hehehe. Great work Jide.

Great work Jide.. I almost asked about the eyes cos if there's dodge its so beautifully done and wether u smudged the skin (weird huh). Congrats on ur best blog award... U deserve oh!!!
Jide Alakija: Nope...all I did was increased the contrast on the eyes....nothing was done to the skin..you can still see the pores in it. It's all about getting the light right!
Congrats on your award, you definately deserve it. On the shot, I love it. I would say this is one the very few times you have not over done the eyes smile Boosting the contrast is definately a much more better PP than the dodging I have seen in your other shots. As for the skin, viewing this at full resolution, I would not say anything was done to it per se, but it seems there was an overall filter or blur or overlay that was added to the shot overall that gave that skin a very nice touch, and this is very evident from her shirt being sort of soft...just my analysis though smile
Jide Alakija: Thanks dude....I never dodge the eyes, I applied the same technique for this as I did for the other few. Remember this is a matter of personal style.

Now this is what I'm talking about! No complaints besides wishing her right eye was fully in focus as well. Great capture!
Jide Alakija: This is why we still need you around! To pick up on those silly things!
