preconceptions of perfection

This is another one from my walk with Skee at Portobello. I've decided to change the style application to this one. I think the dreamy soft focus is very fitting to this one.

On another note, does anyone here run their own business? I thought that I would have a bit more time as time progressed but I'm learning that I'm loosing so much time. More work is coming in and I'm also having to stay up really late to get by. This is of real concern to me as I'm more or less at full capacity. Another thing is I don't know if you've noticed but the amount of creativity that is posted on Alakija.com has all of a sudden dropped. I think this is partly to do with the fact that my photography business has killed my creatitivity. What do you think? Any recommendations?

Also I'm thinking now of concentrating on soley photojournalism and portrait photography. I think I'll let the fashion side rest for now. I'm not sure I have the time of the energy for it. That's for Suby and co.

Growing up as a child this is your idea of perfection, a permanent smile perfect hair teeth eyes skin etc - but then you actually grow up and realize there is beauty in imperfections!!
Jide Alakija: Thanks Tobi, very thoughtful comments. Really appreciate it.

Picture is great - they always are.

Now, creativity dropped off? Possibly, but I believe this is natural and not something to worry about ... yet.

You can be creative within a genre, perhaps with each image; you may even create a new genre occasionally. But you can't create every day. Having created a new fad, genre, style, fashion or whatever, you have to let it run its course. People will jump on the bandwagon, flatter you by imitating it and follow where you lead. You, in the meantime, are working on the next creation. But it doesn't and can't happen every day. There would be nothing left to discover in a very short while, and that would leave you feeling very flat.

It's never a bad thing to specialise once you've found your direction. You need to do this to excel. Leave the higgledy-pickledy approach to the 'also rans' like me.
You know the answer to the problem you are facing, lets put it this way, one of the reasons people come to Jide Alakija for photography is because of your creativity, okay it's perfectly fine that you are now getting soo many people wanting to utilize your skills, but do you have to take on soo many projects and thus start affecting that creativitiy that attracted these people to you?

For example we want to be known more for our fashion/journalistic photography than for anything else, we do say no to some weddings & events that come our way, WHY, although the money may be needed, we can't do it all. You know how long it takes to put some of the finished products together, until you have a team of retouchers working for you, pace yourself, make your services EXCLUSIVE, your are not just a run of the mill photographer, you are JIDE ALAKIJA, & as I keep saying, it's a brand that has to be always related to exclusitivity, creativity, an experience and the finished result MUST always wow anyone who stares at the work.

PACE YOURSELF MY YOUNG JEDI, PACE YOURSELF.

I'm sure it should be padua.. suby,

Jide, I think the problem is you think you are superman and can do all things - Yes through Christ that strenghtens you; but even when he opened a door for paul, he said he didn't like it / had no peace, and he opened another door for him - 2 Corinth. 12 - 14. So you will have many opportunities, thats the favour of God on your life, but you also have to be wise about how you go about using it. Do you remember the verses from yesterday - the Proverbs reference is talking about wisdom and the benefits of having wisdom and acting with/in wisdom and the Malachi is talking about the consequencies of not walking in wisdom...."if you will not hear nor take to heart..; - so take the time out and really observe whats going on.

Remember Jesus had to wait till his early thirties to begin his ministry, and even God that could have created the whole world in a fraction of a second chose to do it in 7 days - its all about setting the stage - you know preparation, dont just lunge yourself. So My dear friend, follow by example - All is well.

To follow the God-Created-The-World analogy, bear in mind that he apparently rested on the 7th day.

Sometimes you can achieve more by taking a break.
definitely fitting processing with the soft touch...looks innocent and child-like, exactly whats needed...would deifnitely like to see more portraits from you...

Dude, that's scaring me.
I see her and I'm thinking "hi, my name is Chucky. you wanna play?" A bit scary, she is. The clarity is amazing, though.
