Garry did it #2

The second shot in the series. You are probably wondering what the link is between this one and yesterdays. Remember it's all about the chaotic moment. So much is going on in this shot but one thing stands out. That's what I've noticed in my understanding of Garry Winogrand's work. Okay this again was from the same event. A bit of time was spent in processing this one, composition, toning and lighting.

I can see what it is trying to achieve but I can't see that I am a fan. It may take me sometime to come round to this or not at all but keep going. Yesterday's wasn't bad either.

Very nice people-shot. Like the atmosphere.
Hmmm...not sure about this. The tones and processing and light are all nicely done, but I'm still just not sure about it.
i share laurie's feelings...it seems just a bit random...

wats the point in comments if u dont reply?

good, but not near ur best so far
Jide Alakija: What do you mean? I am replying now!

I don't think this is a shot that is supposed to be artistically pleasing. The point is that within certain situations you can catch moments that quieten chaos.

You've done exactly what you set out to do, Jide. You've isolated this single moment amongst the chaos that is a busy bar. Very interesting and thought provoking.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Jon, that's exactly what I was after here.

It's great that there is contact with one of the people in the room. It provides a good point of focus and helps make a strong picture.

The work you put in on this one has paid off. Composition, toning and lighting are all spot on.

Your black and white work is inspiring me to try more of it. I really cannot gauge when I've got it right or not, yet I see it in other people's work.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Colin. I can tell you that I've had to learn how to shoot in black and white, just by looking at a lot of other peoples work and studying the light. I think that has helped alot. Check out Jeff Ascoughs Blog for more info - www.jeffascough.net
