northern Beauty

Phew! It uploaded! Yahoo! I've had to resize this image so that its small enough to upload ovr my 28.8mbps connection, so I'm not sure what it would have looked like if I didn't.

Anyway I'm here now and can upload to my photoblog so that's good which means I can post what I have been shooting whilst away. What you're seeing is basically the "Alakija Man" (As I have now been known to be called) photoblogging more or less everyday unlike when I was in London posting mainly archive material. I guess this goes to show that I do indeed need a holiday.

This is one of the first few shots I got whilst on a journey to the market with my Brother, Lanre. He drove and I was doing the shooting. I had a difficult one choosing the colour of the mono of this. I chose the mono. I'll post the colour sometime when I return.

I have to say, women of the North (Northern Nigeria) are really beautiful.

Update: I'll not be updating the blog today as I can't seem to upload this next image. Will try tomorrow.

a great portrait! wonderful pp.
Hiya Jide (it's easier to spell!) There are a lot of great mono shots today and this is up there with them. My only concern is the white being a touch too bright. Excellent DOF and composition. Regards, Neil.
Nice shot, very natural.

Don't bother with the colour version - it would be hard to improve on this.

Have a great break. It looks like it's already having an effect on your inspiration. Long may it continue.

It's OK, well toned, but the composition "ain't lighting any fires" as Suby would say, it's not centre, nor is it side.

Lovely shot, I notice that you've processed this a lot as the background has lost a sense of reality, it looks like a billboard if you know what i mean?
Jide Alakija: Actually there's been very little work done to the background on this one, the work is in the foreground and I just did some contrast and exposure improvements to the lady. I guess that's what's causing the "unreality" as you say.

Thanks Simon.
