Sometimes I wonder if I was a better photographer last year than I am now. I don't seem to be easily capturing those simple lovely things I used to then. So far I'm finding that the shots taken last year that I would never normally post are even better than the ones I'm capturing today. This is one from the archive taken about on the same day as this shot for instance. I don't seem to find these sort of things as I used to. This is something that is really beginning to concern me.
Anyway for those flower lovers out there can you please tell me what this flower is called?
Your archive is very very deep if you have omitted to post this! Mal
Jide Alakija: Well I do have about 500GB of images alone. Mind you the original was really rubbish, I managed to get something out of it today. I guess one thing that has changed over the year is the way I can now rescue an image that looks rather dull. So maybe that's a good thing, but I need the image in the first place!!!!
I think sometimes it comes from actually trying too hard rather that just letting it happen just doing what comes naturally.
I think your work is really impressive. This is very pretty the seperation of the flower from the background is such that it looks painted onto the background.
Can't help you with the name of the flower though.
Jide Alakija: I think you are right. Sometimes I forget that in capturing a moment you have to be at the right place at the right time. Thanks Laurie, you comments about my work is really encouraging.
beautiful shot...!
love the colours..
500gb..! wow thats some archive...!!
Jide Alakija: Thanks Shiv.

Very vibrant.... definitely agree with Laurie that flower looks painted on.. which is not necessarily a bad thing... but maybe capturing the stem would have given the shot more character. Well done!
A very nice flower... and you know how I love flowers !! My favorite subject. A nice picture Jide !! Vibrant, colourful... lovely. The best.
Jide Alakija: FOr that comment alone I'm going to look for more flowers....well in the spring obviously...maybe I have a few in my archive that you would like. Thanks.
Aaaaw, shut up broooo. U were an amazing photographer last year and you are an even more amazing photographer NOW. Jezzz, your artisitic types do my head in.
Lovely shot as always, by the way the link above does not work.
Suby
Jide Alakija: Thanks Suby. I've fixed the link. I don't regard myself an artist though.
When you are very good at what you do, challenging yourself to do better is always tough. But thats what separates the great ones from the mediocre. So consider this a good thing. Love pic by the way.
Jide Alakija: You guys are soooooo kind and encourating. I don't think I would be where I am without all yoru support and input.
I get that too. I sometimes go back to the archive and wonder why I didn't post the shot before. Don't get down though, your skill with people is brilliant, that's one of the reasons I enjoy going out photographing with you because people react very well to you and do what you say. Like on Brick Lane when you just told those guys to freeze and even made them wait while you changed lenses (which was in your bag). They didn't know who the hell you were but they stayed still and did what you said.
I'm a flower lover, but can't tell you what this is called for the life of me hon. I'll check back to see if anyone drops the name. It's a gorgeous periwinkle blue though. Pretty.
its beautifully done, i often wonder the same thing - only for me its more like was i better two months ago?...i think that at the end of the day the learning curve moves only upward and if we're going through an OK patch then its just a temporary phase....
