One from the rocker shoot I did sometime ago. In this one Clair had a very old fashion look so I thought I'd process it in that way. Do you think I've achieved that here?

Update: My good friend Sinem has asked for the mono version of this shot. So here is it.

There was a bike here yesterday now there's one on The Streets today

nice frame and colors. I really like the pp.
Jide Alakija: Thanks.
hey jide,

excellent pping. you definately have achieved the effect that you sought. this shot conjures images of prohibition, speak easies, and flappers in the roaring 20s. love the soft look and the slight blur.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Nicole, that's exactly what I was after. Imaging that this was taken then.

Jide, have you tried more detail in her ring and cigarette. Maybe also toning down a lil of the glow/blur effect. Very beautiful image though.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Man! The idea was to produce a very ancient style so blurring and loss of sharpness is key here. No detail on the ring is required I don't feel as it would form as a distraction but then again there is no rule to portraiture. Thanks anyway.

Great shot, jide..agree with Nicole on the imagery..all she needs is a jade cigarette holder to complete the scene...the scarlet lips, pale skin...beautiful.
Jide nice one, I am feeling the dreamy blurr effect.

Lol, Femi is right about the cigarette. Maybe it would seem even older in black and white. Nice shot
When you said she was a rocker i didnt think you had processed it the right way....but you say she was dressed in an old fashion way, and after looking at it again i reckon its fine the way it is..perhaps a lil less blur around the hand..love her eyes and lips, really jump out at you..
Jide Alakija: I've just put up a mono version, what do you think of it?

The man's on song! Another corker, Jide.

The model is a beauty and those eyes are gorgeous. I'm not a great one for automatic conversion to black & white to convey age - there was colour in those days too - so I'm happy with this.

It still surprises me how much small details can do for an image. In this one it's the cigarette. Burned down to the tip with a lot of ash, as this one, makes it less classy than if it had been a fresh one with less ash. Far be it from me to tell you what you were aiming for, but with her stunning good looks and immaculate makeup, I'd have gone for classy.

Yes, you did!! I immediately thought back to those old, old Hollywood portraits done years ago! Nice work! In b&w, it would pass for one from that era.

I'm not sure it looks that old fashioned but the processing does suit it, yes.

I am not feeling old fashioned here, but she is lovely. The cigarette is nasty though, and if she is a smoker it will age her faster, and I doubt she wants that. (I'm an ex-smoker.)
Jide Alakija: Okay I've just put up a mono version...what do you think of this one?

The combination of very pale skin, fag in hand, black lined eyes, blood red lips, quirky nail colour and dark hair reminds me of Dita Von Teese the International Queen of Burlesque (and Marilyn Manson's other half).... all she needs now is a crystal-clear glass bathtub filled with champagne to twirl around in ;-) Sufficiently interesting shot!

I'd like to see how it looks in b&w dude smile just to be contrary...
Jide Alakija: Done, what do you think now?
Sinem being contrary? Never!
I don't think this works in mono, Jide. The colour is essential to placing the image in that particular era, imho. I think a bit more rouge on the cheeks would have topped it off nicely, and a cigarette without a filter. It's a fine image otherwise.

I think the mono version is very nice but perhaps a little bit too much blur? I do like the color version is better. I think her hair coloring is what doesn't feel vintage to me, and I don't think the old time movie actresses wore their eyeliner quite that way. My mom was a theatrical make-up artist back in the day, late 40's early 50's, before I was born, and used to love to show me the "tricks of the trade". She would read me the riot act when I would wear my liner like that to go out "clubbing". Again maybe the blur is just a wee bit too much.

Sorry, after all that trouble, I prefer it in colour after all... sounds like she's just popped out of a 50s French movie.

You made her eyes look "piercing",you brought out the colour. You also made her look spotless n made her make-up(lip-stick) stand out.I must say,I'm impressed!Keep up the good work.As for who I am..........I'm a friend of a friend.Take care Jide!
