Staring in the heat

This is the first HDR portrait that I am pleased with. This was a chap I met during the Rockers shoot. He was from Liverpool, I forgot to ask him his name. He kept on telling me how life up north was so much better than life down south. Well I think life anywhere outside London is better than life anywhere else.

Not much to day about this one.

Hey, great portrait. Do add the EXIF the image. As a learning photographer, would love to learn!
Jide Alakija: Ooops! Sorry Vijay, I've added it now. When you did the HDR manipulation, I lost it then. Thanks.

How is HDR done? I like this shot..Many Nigerians would tell you otherwise about your statement.
Jide Alakija: Have a look at http://www.hdrsoft.com.

They may be right but then again it's all about what you like and what you are about I guess.

Thanks.
So crisp!! can you forward your reply to E's comment to me too please?grin
And what tool did you use to blur? free hand orrrr????
Jide Alakija: Have a look at http://www.hdrsoft.com.

The blur was done in Photoshop, simple Guas blur, though I masked it too.

Hi Jide. this is a lovely portrait, the PP is is always excellent, my only minor issue is with the blur which I feel is a little overdone, but it's still a great character shot..
Jide Alakija: You know Shooter, I wasn't too sure about the blur you know, I played and played with it to the point I couldn't even make up my mind anymore.

Thanks.

very nice work jide. are you doing you hdr in photmatix or cs2. great portrait
Jide Alakija: THanks Nev. This was done in Photomatix, using one RAW file with a seperation of exposures of 2eV.
Nice work on the guassion blur front smile
Jide Alakija: Thanks Diego.
A great portrait, love the background
Jide Alakija: Thanks Zebigleb, you know I wasn't too sure about the back ground. Glad you like it.

Jide, you've converted me to HDR with this potriat. Good one
Jide Alakija: Really? I'm glad you are converted with this shot, though I don't know how. I think you need to see the original first, there is that much of a difference other than the fact that I have a bit more tonal detail.

HDR on portraits usually look strange to me, but if you hadn't told me I would not have guessed for this shot.

I'm not sure how I feel about the way the blur is applied for this one though.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Laurie, I've been posting some HDR stuff in the past but haven't told anyone about them, I guess it's because it's in monochrome most of the time so it's not very obvious. This is the first colour version I've posted that I'm actually very happy with.

I dont really know much about photography, but since i started checking out your blog, i havent been able to stop, i keep looking over my back so that i dont get caught at work. My comment is that you INSPIRE me.
Jide Alakija: WOW! What a comment. I still wonder what it is that makes you all come back, I'm really being honest here.

You'd never know it was HDR. Very nice portrait.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Jamey, I think the RAW file from the 5D is really good that's why.

Beautiful portrait, and the HDR work is great, you've managed to do it without this looking cartoony which so much HDR is these days. Great work.
