Nana

First of all a big thank you to Nana, the subject of this photo, I realised that I don't have many non-black people portraits on Alakija.com so Nana volunteered to help adjust that a bit. I haven't done any creative portraits in a while and also I've not done one in a very different style that's just been developed.

I'm very happy with this shot and I'm hoping I'll be processing some more portraits in this style or a variantion of it in the future.

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

I've just put up a little walkthrough on how to achieve this type of image. It's not exactly what I did but on the way to what you see here. Have a look here

Late posting my friend, no excuses, knock on the head from the Subster, don't you know you have loyal fans waiting for your post every morning, don't you know looking at the Alakija man's blog is like having a cuppa every morning, breakfast for the mind yada yada yada (more complaints)..... grin

Anyway enough of me moaning, to the image I go...#

My type of shot and edit. Nicely done. I am a fan of angled shots and not always fully showing all of the model for shots like these. So me like this capture. Also like the tones used.

Jide Alakija: Actually I had uploaded this shot to be displayed on time, I was just victim to the little problem the shutterchance server encountered yesterday.

Thanks for the compliment and I've updated the commentary for the shot now. (Oh! Tosin wants her money NOW!)

Great to see a bot of monochrome after so much colour...bautiful expression and I love the toning and the blurriness at the peripheries...welcome back, Jide...8.75/10
Jide Alakija: Thanks Samarth, I'm going to put some steps to explain this one in the forums later today.

She is lovely. I like this portrait it's really flattering.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Laurie, I just bought a book on classic black and white photographs from Paris called "Paris Mon Amour" and it's what inspired it.

Nice one Jide!
This does have a different feel to your other portraits......difficult to put into words, this feels cleaner, less dreamy if that makes sense?? I like both very much...perhaps more straight forward is the phrase I am looking for. Phil
