Carnival 2005 #6

Okay first of all this is not the best shot in the series as you can tell. This was a shot I didn't originally intend to post but then I asked myself why I took it in the first place. I think the answer is quite obvious. Anyway the reason this has been posted is really to spark off a little debate here.

For those wondering how I got these shots, as I said in the first post I was working with the Press team for the Parasio School of Samba.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? (and please be honest)

Final shot tomorrow. Then off to something else, maybe a wedding shot!

WHOA!!!!!!! WOW really close-up shot, good one good one. But wow, was she completely naked? The photographer in the background is really taking her pics, lolol. Looking forward to the wedding photos. Have a lovely week!
wow jide,

this is a serious photo. although it may not be the best in terms of technicalities, it makes up for what it lacks in terms of sheer outrageousness.

First thing that popped into my head was "Is she a Man or a Woman?" I do see the boobs but still there is still something about the picture and the pose that draws one in to look and then look again.

I like how she/he is totally reveling the attention. SO BOLD ... and Daring

uh... I'm guessing its a girl? tongue

this IS interesting. I guess nude shots are alright when it comes to photography sometimes. If it is only to accentuate some part of the body in a sexual manner, its definitely wrong. we've got movies, ads and teen magazines for that; but if it's a reflection of celebration (flashing is legal in certain parts of the US for the festival Mardi Gras), an emotion, a feeling or something deeper... its acceptable.

Anyway, for some reason I'm not able to make up my mind if this shot was outrageous, okay or a definite no-no. me don't like her a lot... something that doesn't look right. great capture of the moment nevertheless. look fwd to a wedding shot now lol

ps. is this comment acceptable under the yellow shhs mode? smile

She looks fairly naked to me. Anyway, I like this because it raises questions about society and it's view on nudity.

I'd have like a shot that didn't cut of her/his legs and the top of the headdress. This time I'm stumped...don't think a "he" would have frizzy hair and small boobs after all the other efforts made.

Its nude but not crude...like my rhyming skills? lol. Would have prefered all of her/him in the frame.
Its a very nice shot and when you eventually turn to her face you can see that she is loving it ;-) Its a good natured shot and I think the nudity neither takes away or adds its just there.

Very risque but the nudity does not distract me from anything and i like the expression on her face....in a way its almost a ho-hum shot but its nice and am definitely liking the series so far...7.75/10

The nudity thing and the him or her thing is really not all that important as this is after all a carnival . The facial expression and body language says she doesn't mind you taking the pic and she is having a really good time. For me I would have liked to see the rest of the head gear but all in all it's a standard carnival shot and it helps to be in the right place at the right time, well done.

I'm not bothered with the nudity in this photo...she has a beautiful body imho....(i think she is wearing a string though..there is a thin line visible under her hand..)You've captured her expression very well..that is the strength of this photo! Well done Jide

A couple of well placed sequins...I wonder who had the job of placing them!

It is a woman. She has small breasts and it doesn't make her a man. I would say yes, she is naked. If you search online for pictures of the Carnaval in Brazil, you will see a lot of girls wearing nothing but body paint and sequins.
In my honest opinion I don't see anything special here. Would be nice to not have cut the ornament on her head and the wings.
Wow! Your exposure is spot on on these! Great series!!

Uh. Did she have a nice personality?

I'm of the opinion that if someone walks naked (or does something else that goes similarly against the grain in a public setting), then any good photographer has a duty to document it. Of course in Brazil, this isn't going against the grain, so maybe you wouldn't have to take a picture there.

No strings, completely starkers, I think. This is one of those ones that are just uncomfortable for obvious reasons, but still a good shot of SHIM (settles the issu!)
