Carnival 2005 #2

In processing this particular shot I had to go through so many adjustment layers to correct the lighting on the face. All in all it took me the best part of 40 mins to do. I also I worked extensively to  bring out the shine in the silver in the dancers here you can see the "bling" on her costume and her boots.

Again apologies for the bad composition in the chopping of the hand and feet. I wasn't thinking when I took this shot. I kinda got carried away.

Update: Here is the original here

Hi Suby

She has definitely great eyes, very strong expression.

It is a great shot and yet something seams to be missing and I can’t tell what it is. Maybe it is the kind of shines and protection she radiates. It is also very strong the different shots you presented so far from her.

I appreciate your work

Diya
Jide Alakija: Suby? I think this comment should have appeared on Suby's blog hence I'm deleting it as it's not relevant to my photoblog.
very good PP here. Striking but not overdone.

P.S. I see there's a hint of discrimination on your blog. as representative of the Frustruated Women on Shutterchance Association i demand that you put up pictures of buff blokes with ripping biceps (no tiaras or bikinis please), or else...?
Jide Alakija: Funny you say that because I was about to look for a shot of a bloke for tomorrow's shot.
hey jide,

the expression and the outfits are so extravagant that the cropping isn't even really noticeable. i hadn't even noticed the missing hand until you mentioned it. the pping and the colors are great.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Nicole.

There is so much going on in this...the costumes are amazing.

I think I would have nightmares about processing this one. I can imagine how hard it was with so much contrast and the lighting issues here. I can tell that it would not have been an easy task. Whatever you did was done well.

Wow I just noticed the shoes...so cool!!! lol...how long did they march and dance in those? My feet hurt just thinking about it.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Laurie, this is definitely a woman. They are very good at hiding the pain they feel dancing in those shoes. Tosin told me that it's very agonising dancing in the hot sun for 5+ hours in them.

LOVE the colours. I can only imagine the excitement and celebration in the air while standing there. And the costumes... it must've taken a helluva time working to bring out the shine in them, kudos to you!
Jide Alakija: Actually not too much of a time but it was something I had never done before. Now I know how to do them easily. Thanks.

Jide this is a lovely shot which has a spontaneous feel to it, I feel it captures the spirit of the occasion which is why it's a great shot, love the colours and the sunshine smile...

Lovely shot Jide. 40mins?....I support Morenike smile
Jide Alakija: Yup. 40 mins, which isn't to bad considering that it used to take me an hour and sometimes days to process a portrait. Typically I'd spend 10 mins processing a shot, however because I didn't know how to bring out certain bits out it took me a while to find it.

Hi Jide,

Apologize for the late reply but School came up and I had to abandon my project for a while before resuming.

I just started my own blog and was looking for an image that expressed what I felt inside (or maybe what i hope to find inside) and I came across this image Portrait Series Part Deux : Spiritual Joy on your website. I FELL IN LOVE with it and thats what i asked your permission to use it.

I was going to use it as my blog logo but I don't want to crop or mess with it cos its just too PREFECT the way it is and my technical skills are not that great either.

Thanks for considering my request at all. I don't live in the UK but I might be there for xmas hols. It would be an honor to have you take some family and personal shoots. Hope you will be around and not in NIJAsmile. KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK....

The colours in this one really do pop. Excellent processing. I wouldn't have guessed that this one had taken so much work if you hadn't said it.
