A shot from the wedding in Nigeria last week. Just as the bride was getting ready to leave her home I stole this opportunity ti catch a shot of her slipper. With permission from the new couple I'll see if I can post some more shots from the wedding ceremony.

I Like this very much nice composition and colour treatment.

I was commenting about styles in photography in my writeup today, where I mention the ability to not fall into the "current trends", in style, i.e, in your picture above, I notice the "vignette", which I tend to see alot in many photographers of this time and era. Not that there is nothing wrong with this. But when this concept goes out of style for instance... so does your photograph.

I for one want my work to be timeless, and hence I do not tie myself in to what is currently in vogue smile
Jide Alakija: Thanks. It's funny though I didn't even put any vignetting in this one at all. The darkness you see is the lack of luminosity from the natural light.

Yum yum Jide want to kill us again oooo. Top marks for this one. The carpet almost gets in the way of this shot.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Man!

I like this a lot. Just something about good looking shoes set against an equally good background!
Jide Alakija: Thanks. I wasn't sure how this one would have been recieved.
Funny!! i thought it was a crocodile sticking out of something at first glance!!!
Jide Alakija: Now that's funny.

Very very plain shot portrayed very well.....that pattern on the carpet really goes with the sandals and that stark white of the drss works for you too...interesting angle....event though i like the shot i wud(and i dont know how u wud) like u to jazz it up a bit..anyway it gets a 7.5/10 from me.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Samarth, Not sure what you mean by Jazz it up? Do you mean process it with a lot of colour as I've done in my past posts?

Very very elegant..only wish the carpet wasn't patterned which detracts slightly from those beautiful shoes..but that couldn't be helped.
Jide Alakija: Well you can only work with what you have, though some people do like the carpet there and see it not as a distraction. You've also got to remember that this is not an artistic peice but a wedding candid shoot so you have to take what you have there with you, as you say, it can't be helped!. Thanks for the comment.

This is an unusual shot - Remind me a fairy tale about a princess and her shoes ;-)

oh - this is wonderful. And I don't agree with the carpet being distracting - I think it enhances the overall feel of the picure... If that was my foot 'd definately have this picture and it woukd have pride of place in my wedding album. just the right bit of sparkle on the shoe, just the right bit of almost fairy-like softness in the fabric of the dress, and what the hell is wrong with the way you like things being in fashion (if that is indeed the case)
