Singing Boots

This is one in the boots and shoes of band members (Taneta) another one in the collection I'm developing.

What do you think about this shot? I I've been playing around with some more black and whote processing techniques and I think this is one of the best ones I've produced so far, wouldn't you agree?

Tomorrow marks the start of a new exhibition on Alakija.com. I'm going to be showing you a series of photos from the streets of my hometown, Lagos. A photojournalistic and documentary style will be employed, so there wouldn't be anything creative in the shots that you'll be presented with just stories.

I'm hoping this series will tell you a bit more about the little I know about Lagos and also raise discussions too.

Also I'm going to be away in Nigeria for 6 days, the blog will be running as normal, I'll not be responding as quickly as I would have loved to as I'll be busy preparing and shooting a friends wedding.

I like the black and white! It has this '60s jazz theme. Looking forward to your Lagos stories smile Have a nice trip.

Nice mood here. It's got like a film noir kinda feel to it. Great job!

This is GREAT! Well done, I loke the composition, you reduced the shot to what is important, and the shoes are just too cool. Well done, great feel to this.
Really like this as well. Lovely black and white, the lighting really does it for me with the moody diffused shadows, great subject matter as well

glad to hear you'll be showing pictures of Lagos. I love this city fiercely and really look forward to seeing it through your eyes. I am not blind to the bad sides of Lagos and hope that you won't romanticise lagos like some photographers and writers are wont to. Lagos is a crazy place and only slightly unbalanced people can love it like I do. I'll be watching this space.

Beautiful picture!!
This might sound stupid but the B&W result reminds me of the B&W's of Julien Roumagnac.....Not the subjects, but the atmosphere in the photo.....
Does this make sence to you? or is this a stupid comment?
Would love to make photo's like that.
Have a good trip!

Jide Alakija: JR is my inspiration. I've learnt a lot from his work and no your comment is far from stupid.

This is a great shot, and I'll bet the band would've purchased a print. I would if I were them. Very nice b&w.

Lots of good news! I'm looking forward to the documentary shots and how much fun will that be in Nigeria?? I hope you can share a lot of work from there. Good luck and have a great time.
i love this shot. this reminds me of a smokey jazz lounge in the 1940s. this would simply be a brilliant poster or album cover. i love what you have done to the black and white tones...the contrast of light against dark, the white shoes against the shadowed legs. really brilliant!
Looks like some tapping feet to the music. Much stronger in B/W over color for sure. Good concept but sorry the right foot is a tad blown although it does not alter the picture's force and statement.
