Guess who?

So let's talk about the rain......

Sorry James, I didn't get the time to process the final shot that I was going to put as part of the previous series. Anyway unto something completely different. This is a shot I originally processed as a duotone but was in two minds about it. Anyway I realised that I've put up a lot of duotone images in the past so it's time to flip the script a bit.

On a seperate issue, the rain came today and it came pouring, I was caught in it, the day I decide to put on my real summer wear preparing for the sun, and it rains, I wasn't to disheartened by it though, it was a good thing it did, this year we've had a really hot summer in London and it's becoming really unbearable. Thank God it rained today. I hope we get bit of it from time to time.

Another good thing about the rain is that here in London, the Company that supplies our water don't have a culture of fixing burst pipes so when there is a drought we have what they call Hose pipe bans I'm happy that we have an excuse to play in the water again. I wonder how it is in countries that hardly have any rainfall, what do our eastern cousins think?

Crop: 2x1

Side issue you can see my interpretation of
Sola's shot of Sinem in two forms: Colour and Mono

nice catch...and a refreshing topic if i may just add. i love the way his left leg was slightly twisted (or it seems to be). it's been raining here in manila as well. raining cats and dogs if i may just be specific at that. but there are the hot days as well, always will be. anyway, i like how you process your images. really.
Jide Alakija: I hear you can have rain non-stop for days where you are.

This my friend is one of your best recent shots, it has beautiful muted tones and IMHO is all the better for it. I love the framing and his pose is almost statuesque, this is added to by his muscular build, the only very minor point would be dof but I would guess you already know this.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Shooter, yes I know what you mean about the DOF, realised that after I posted it, couldn't be bothered to change it as I thought it was a minor issue.

He looks like he's waiting for something, so coupled with your introduction and the dying grass, we could imagine it's the rain.

I like this image a lot, but there are two things that catch my attention. One is that it is not straight - the vertical aren't vertical. The other is what looks like the electricity distribution box on the hop at the far nd of the building. For one thing it looks just a little bit untidy, but also it feels incongruous. It doesn't seem to belong with the feel of the rest of the image.
Jide Alakija: Arrghhh! A clinch in the Matrix. Thanks for spotting that Colin.

If it hadn't been for Hunter, I wouldn't have noticed the fact that the image is not straight. But I love the composition and the muted colours. I would buy this in print put it on my wall, there is a certain melancholy I like about it.
Jide Alakija: WOW! What a compliment, someone would buy an image of mine, pity it's Asiko and not Suby in the picture, I would have made loads of cash had that been the case, eh?
Great colours and the texture u have captured in the ground...Did you tell him to stand there? or did u just shoot without him knowing..hehe and whats with the leg? is it actually twisted?
Jide Alakija: No he didn't even know I took the shot until he saw it on my photoblog today. His leg, well the wind caused that little bend in his pants, you know the effect.

Crop is cool and the colors rock (did you use a gradient?). Love the atmosphere and where you placed the subject. The only question I have is: There are little white dots appearing in the picture and they are especially visible in the trees and the building. Where do they come from?
Jide Alakija: Thanks Ella, I asked my self that question too and I'm not very sure, I think they could be the glimpses of the sky through the leaves, obviously when I sharpened it they were amplified.

I am loving this shot as well. The PPing is PERFECT. Now this is how to wake up an image.

I like the crop, The only slight niggle for me is that lamp post(or whatever it is) far right. I would either has cropped or cloned it out.

Nevertheless that does not stop you from earning a well deserved and coveted "I Likey" from the Subster. Very good and sneaky capture.
I really liked the edits of the shots you sent to me yesterday. You going to put a link up for others to see?
You received the email I sent on the idea for a themed Friday?
Jide Alakija: Thanks Suby, I was hoping that if anything you would put up the shot yourself. I'll put a link to it now.

What email? I got a text but no email.

One of your best man,
Love it,
This is a picture (yes it sounds stupid let me explain) because its not the usual ordinary thing which using processing is made into something visually appealing instead this shot is pure in itself, it really gets you wondering what he's thinking.I'm sure nobody understood that so get this : GREAT GREAT GREAT SHOT!

Loving this shot, didn't warm to the cafe scenes for some reason although I still plan to go back and say why...when I work it out
Jide Alakija: Thanks Simon, I didn't expect that everyone would like the cafe shots actually, I love your response to this shot though....just classic.

this one is so cool...looks like a movie scene. You know when the protagonist is thinking about his life in the south before he moved to the hard city (e.g Ray). He looks comfortable...not happy not sad...not even necessarily at home...just like "this here is as good a place...etc"
