Cafe Candid #2

Number 2.....and already I bet you are getting into it. A lot has to be said about these shots as they do have some appeal to them. I was there sitting in the cafe and shooting and there was soooooooo much going on outside the window. All in all I think I got about 10 very good ones. I'll just be posting 4 of them. Maybe I'll post the other 6 later.

More tomorrow.

Ah, so that's it. the intensity is actually them peering into the cafe window and going - "sh*t, Is that a guy in there with a camera?"

Hey, Jide! What's up? Yeah, man, I am so totally upset with you for not attending the wedding that I've been ignoring for ages... Just kidding, Jide, no worries. Glad you noted my absence from Shutterchance though - just been extremely busy. And exhausted. Thank God, Suby's still uploading some of my shots so you can get to see at least a sign of me on Shutterchance.

As to the photo, I love street shots, and who better than Alakija to take them, hey? I LIKEY! smile
Looks like she is being very careful crossing the street. "look left, look right, look left again. get hit by bus" just kidding. Great capture.

What happened to her hand?
Jide Alakija: That was the same question I asked myself when I looked through my camera preview.

Another excellent catch! Here's my question...could she (and the others) see you shooting through the window or were they just looking in as they walked by and you wound up with some great, unintentional poses?
Jide Alakija: I was in the cafe with a mate of mine and whilst we were in the mist of good conversation I was snapping away at what I saw across the road. There was no way they could have seen me as I was very deep inside the cafe and using a 70-200mm lens so I was able to catch them as they looked into the cafe.

Having them see me would defeat the point of candid shooting. I obviously am not going to commercialise these shots as that would be breaking the law but talking candid shots like this is okay. As long as it's not putting them in a bad light.

Thanks for the question Micki, very valid.

Great color tone! Immediately grabbed that one smile. I didn't like the picture much to begin with, but after I while it really grew on me. There are some interesting details you only notice when paying close attention. Very good processing...
