1st day of Summer

This is the best I could come up with this weekend, this was taken on a hot afternoon in London (these are very rare), it was about 20C. Today it was almost 28C seems like the first day of summer has finally arrived, spent it in the garden with Tosin and her friend talking about all sorts. How was your saturday? What did you spend it doing?

Guys (members AND non-members), are you aware that shutterchance is currently running a competition? Every two weeks you could win £100 cash! You can find the details here.

-The DOF. This is very nice. It really pulls your attention to the main subjects.
-Colors. Its really nice. I'm liking the deep dark shadows and the highlights.
-The subjects themselves. I just like flowers and when someones sees what I see when I take photo then that photo becomes more meaningful to me.

-That purpe haze. It seems to cut the image in half.
-The fact that you have a f/1.4 lens. The RezMeister needs that type of lens.
-I also dont like that I cant really rag on this photo.

Overall, this is a nicly composed photo. The f1.4 really makes things nicer. Much better than a photoshop effect. Nice job Jide.

Love the dreamy, summertime look of this shot. We had an extrememly rainy Saturday. We needed it, though. We'd been in the 90's all week with no rain.

I love the processing you do on flower shots. Beautiful. My saturday was pretty boring, prety much consisted of nothing more than being annoyed with my husband!

Oh abt my day - I spent it doing all sorts, from spring cleaning my house, to giving my room a facelift, to going to get my eyebrows and nails done, to going to visit a friend who lost her dad recently R.I.P sad to going out later at night. I had the longest Saturday ever...think cos I woke up about 7am :-/
You're really impressing me right now. The DOF, the glow, the exposure are all perfect. My only suggestion is to crop a little off the right side to get the foreground flowers to be perfectly central. (You could even crop the same amount off the top and you'd preserve the aspect ratio of this photo.) Very calm, very tranquil. Cheers, Brent

I've always struggled to get this type of shot to work. Lovely capture here. I like the way the colour haze and detail fades away.
