photoblog image Simi

This is a very weird image in that it took me half as much time to process and all I used was my 580 Speedlite with no diffuser (it was taken at a party last weekend), so all I can say is that this lady has a very fine facial structure, in short this is one of the easiest photos I've had to process and I really enjoyed working on it.

I'm playing with this Portrait crop some how I wish I could have had it more landscape, anyway I'm still happy with my 10D for headshots.

Guys (members AND non-members), are you aware that shutterchance is currently running a competition? Every two weeks you could win £100 cash! You can find the details here.

It kind of narrow, isn't it? It actually helps the image, I think, because you included all of the necklace. I like how her lips match her necklace. I think this is very fine, Jide. Cheers, Brent
Jide Alakija: Thanks Brent, you know I was thinking the same thing too, however I did want to include her necklace somehow but the background wasn't really the best.

Yeah, it's a little narrow and I think a little of her hair at the top would be nice.

Very nice catch light though and good job controlling the lighting... I'm generally very wary of using a speedlight in portrait orientation because of the way the shadows are cast but the shadow's have worked well here.
Jide Alakija: Thanks David. The issue with the cast of shadow did occur, you can correct that using a reverse S curve on the Red channel on the face.

The narrow crop enhances this beautiful lady's tall elegant look. The soft brown colours are quite exquisite.

I think you've made the skin softening a little too obvious though so it has no texture. If this lady's skin really is this smooth, then apologies all round and lucky lady.
Jide Alakija: :S Smoothness, well I tried to produce a glamour look with the skin and I think it looked quite fine, they normally look unreal and over smooth in the glamour shots I've seen. Thanks Colin.

Unusual format and framing but I think you have carried off, love the softness, and the colour...
Jide Alakija: Yup I agree, very unsual framing. I need to be a bit more daring when it comes to the framing at times on portraits. Thanks.

idleye says .... damn fine shot.

You guys are sooooo lucky cos you seem to have an endless supply of compliant (even eager) and beooootiful young women who throw themselves in front of your voracious lenses.
Jide Alakija: Idleye, Thanks. I have to admit, I do seem to find myself in situations where I find such lovely captures, though I have to say it's not that easy to get these shots, as most people don't like their photographs posted on the net.

Nice... I really like it.

It would be even nicer if you showed some of her hair on top, like someone else has suggested, said the Photo Critic... lol
Jide Alakija: Yes, maybe it would have been nicer, again a different picture. I'll try and see how it would have looked. Thanks Adura.

Beautiful smile, though I have to admit that it does come across as a bit forces in my eyes. The brown tones are absolutely sensual!
Where do you find these women, Jide??? We want to steal your magic.
Jide Alakija: As it's difficult for a lady to walk right past a shoe shop without stopping to look, I can be like that with a fine woman. I just ask her for her picture after a bit of buttering up. wink

Good composition. I think having the whole necklace in the image helps. Its great that you didn’t cut off the image at the bottom. Having such a long image makes her smile the focal point. Which is nice! Great colour, a bit too much softening of the skin on the left hand-side of her face. I see what you were doing, but a little bit more depth in the surface of her skin would have been perfect. Overall, well processed image. smile
Jide Alakija: Thanks Temi.

A beautiful shot of a beautiful lady. She has lovely eyes, and your image shows this off really well. Post processing is visible on the skin i think, but the end result is still striking. Nice work!
