What constitutes a good photoblog?

Nothing to say for this one....Honestly the work wasn't me, it was all her, she's a fine girl, I was onlydoing the clicking.

On another note, I'm realising I'm not focussed with this blog as most others are. What's your take on what you think a good photoblog should have?

Post processing:Softening, curves, retouching

I'm really digging this bro. This is a very very very nice image.

I would have gotten more of her head. What do you think?
Jide Alakija: Thanks Reza. I deliberatly removed the top of the head from this one, I thought I looked better that way. Thanks for the comments though.

Ah, I see. Tomarrow, I'll probably see your vision and what you are doing. Right now, I'm tired and drowsy sad

jide, jide, jide.
hw many times did i call ur name?
wow!
wat do u mean by ur not focused? at least ur doing something most people with this calibre of work aint doing: demystifying the process of turning camera images into WOW images. for me that's something....
keep the flame burning.
Jide Alakija: Thanks for your kind words, just not sure what to focus on.

This is another great portrait Jide. I love the lighting and composition. The hair over one eye adds a bit of mystery and mischief.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Heath.

The framing is excellent and so is the light. I like her expression and her hairs half-hiding one eye.
Jide Alakija: Thanks AirBete. Really appreciate your comments.

Lovely shot : superb lighting and framing : spectaculr. One tiny flaw I don't like those hairs going across right below her head. But still : GREAT GREAT SHOT!What makes a good photoblog : I'd say firstly original shots : consistent posting : a dedicated person behind it who puts in work into it and willing to accept criticism.
Jide Alakija: Azhar, thanks a lot. What can make the blog better?

Oh and I don't know why you think you're not focused : the thing is that you might think this because you don't have much work to put in : for Blogger blogs we have to maintain our template make more features : etc. but for shutterchance there's not much to do.You are doing the best anyone can for a photoblog with shutterchance.

shutterchance is filled with hot shots today, this is one of the hottest, well done. Ade really likes this shot and the babe is fine sha. Did she like it?
Jide Alakija: I'm not sure, hopefully she'll leave a comment today otherwise I'll be recieving a letter from her lawyers.

Lovely shot, your portraits always look so good... smile The lighting is really spot on! I'm curious about why you shot this in landscape orientation, unless you intended to put text or something in the empty area.
Jide Alakija: Veloran. Thanks. I wanted to do something a bit different, again I was experimenting. Like that you made a comment about it.

Excellent shot, wonderful lighting and great compositon, and I think a good photoblog is all in the eye of the beholder. But as long as the photoblog has some info about the images and I like the shots, thats enough for me smile
Jide Alakija: Thanks Dan. I'll make sure I put as much info as I can.
Lovely composition, great potrait!
Jide Alakija: Thanks Ashish.

Did you get a new CAMERA ?
Jide Alakija: Nah...borrowed Skee's camera, couldn't do this with my old 10D. But funny thing is I cropped heavily in this shot. So maybe I could but with loads of heavy PP.

Deji, all i can say is..'i wish!!' Jide, sorry for using your blog to carry out this conversation..i think you do awesome work..you do more than just take pictures..it's obvious you pour yourself into your work and each picture speaks..literally. I guess this constant introspection and quest for something better is the lot of the tortured artist..if it drives you to aim higher, it's all good.
Jide Alakija: Nah...please discuss...I love drama.

Yep, it's in the eyes! Gorgeous woman and image. Love the empty space to the right. The only thing that is slightly destracting me from her beautiful shapes are, as Azhar already mentioned, the strains of hair in the area of her cleavage.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Ella. Hmmm about the stands....I actually liked it but then I think that's because I was working from an original.

dude! Nice shot, very profesional ing too. Like it a lot. smile)
Jide Alakija: Thanks Bruno.
You're not going to like me sad I think the shot needs her hair clearing up over her neck and breastbone and maybe a little bit on her forehead, really distracting.

Beautiful subject, very well composed/positioned and I love the tonal colours and lighting too. Particularly like the glimpse of eye through the hair...was that assisted in photoshop at all wink
Jide Alakija: Simon, you know that I value your thoughts a lot, say what you think and not what you think I want to hear.

Thanks for the comments and I think you are right, I got the same comment from Ella and Azhar, and I value their thoughts too as they have been very instrumental in the progression of my work.

I used a shot I took of her as a template and worked from there, in PS.

Hey Jide, great stuff I did not know you knew my sister. Or did you get her photo from some where random. Anywayz whatever the case she is definitely Britain's top Model.... so watch the space.
Jide Alakija: LOL. Acutally I only realised that she was your sister when I posted the image. Ozi in MD informed me that she was your sis.

And yes I took the picture sometime ago.

Gorgeous portrait!

Hmmm, what makes a good blog? I guess that is an individual thing. I did this just as a way to fulfill my need to do something creative and artistic. Something I hadn't done in 15 years. I ended up "meeting" some great people, and I'm learning a lot about the craft which I will hopefully put to good use.
Jide Alakija: Hmmm...interesting thought. Thanks Micki.

I'm wondering the same thing, with out changing my shooting style, which I think is putting the cart before the horse. I also understand that most of my work is studio shots, and that unfortunately is not the big thing right now. The other quandries I have is how do I expand my blog traffic, keep them, and more importantly how do I attract viewers that are not other photobloggers. The peer group viewership is good, but I'd also like to attract the general public, the graphic arts industry, people who would/could buy prints and advance my career.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Patrick. Do you run a photoblog yourself? If so what's the URL?
Jide, we need to talk about the black background u've got in this pic. I'm planning to do a silhouette soon. I need to know hoe you did it
Jide Alakija: Dude, first thing, I didn't use a black background. Her face was framed with her hair so I worked from there. You can contact me when you want and we can take it from there.
Great shot and what a good photoblog should have is subjective adn if I were you, instead of asking for other's opinion, I'd be doing what i like to do with my blog.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Navin, I really appreciate your comments and yes that's true always do what you like, however the question is rather an open one where I just wanted to hear the opinions of others to really understand what the generic understanding is of what a good photoblog is. I think there are objective elements to it as well as subjective ones.

My thoughts. grin

Nothing wrong with this shot. Stunning in every department.

I'm no blogging expert - this is my only blogging site. What I like about it most is its honest bloggers and good feedback and it feels like a community of friends, many of whom have probably never met. That's testament to the glue - your site - that binds us.

It's clean and tidy in a Googly sort of way - no unnecessary whistles and bows. As long as there is good quality, inoffensive work and robust, honest, inoffensive feedback, you're stuck with me.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Colin.

Jide, what makes the off-centre work so much? It should just be a pitch-black space on the right... but it's not just that! (Make sense?)
Jide Alakija: Not sure I get you.
