photoblog image Soulchild

This is the second of the portraits I've decided to put up from Saturday. This is "The Souldchild".

I think I'll leave you all to talk about this one, I've nothing really to say about it, the expression says it all.

Post processing: Curves and gradients.

2006 Photobloggies are now taking nominations. The Photobloggies is an annual award ceremony celebrating photoblogging around the world. Through the Photobloggies, you can find some of the best photoblog sites on the internet.

Love the expression bro, VERY nice shot. Btw, how do you get that tone with just curves? I've tried everything!
take care
Jide Alakija: Gradients for the sides, now for curves....I'll have to explain later in the text as it's not really easy to explain. Basically you've got to understand how the curves influence the image tonal palette first. I'm not sure I fully understand it yet but the more I play around with it the more things I learn. In this image I learnt a lot more about toning of the skin and playing with the light just by applying different types of curves in the green and red channel. I'll look for a link that explains what I'm trying to explain as I'm not sure I'm being clear here.

Thanks for the comment
Very fine portrait. I don't know how you got such perfect DOF and tones but awesome job.

He looks very determined indeed ;-)! Love the subtle contrast between the reddish shirt and the greenish touch of the wall. Composition, perspective and lighting are also excellent.

I may be in the minority here. I really like this shot for it's composition, perfect location and subject. I don't believe the guy's aggression, though. His facial expression doesn't reach his benevolent eyes. I think he's a really nice guy doing you a favour.

(And I'm not just saying this in case he's one of the boys that some of you have threatened to send round!)
Well, really good job. I specially love the colors.
He´s looking like "that´s my b-ball! you wont get it!" smile

He doesn't really look mean to me, more like a playful sort of feigned aggression. I still like it though, the lighting of the scene and subject is perfect!

I think he's a real cutie and his expression just makes you want to hug him... LOL!!!

Nice picture.
A great portrait I like the way you slipped the Nike emblem in nice and straight ;-) It captures a competetive spirit of the player. (The shot not the Nike sign)

Very nicely done. I love this one and the post processing you've done to it does work well. =]
Looks like an ad for sure - looking forward to hearing more about the curves technique - I think I kind of understand what you are talking about but another example might be best smile

wonderful, "in your face" expression...btw I tried to answer your question about the kaleidoscope, but the email bounced back to me, the kaleidoscope is made from 3 6x16 inch front surface mirrors duct taped into a triangle. Front surface mirrors are the key.
Nice expressions, very intense. Great potrait!

Could easily be a Nike ad.
Excellent work. In regard to the most recent shot, this one is weaker for me. The facial expression feels forced to me. That said, the technicals are really incredible. Regards, Brent
