Two beauties

Do you like the new Navigation system on my blog? Please I'd like to know.

Another week is over and a new one is about to start. Nothing much to say here apart from this being the last of the few shots I have. This is Lorie and her sister Oyin.

I've started using the categories feature on shutterchance to group my shots. I've created a "Children" category for these one.

Post processing:Curves, BW through Channel mixer, gradient at the bottom, colour fill for green palette.

2006 Photobloggies are now taking nominations. The Photobloggies is an annual award ceremony celebrating photoblogging around the world. Through the Photobloggies, you can find some of the best photoblog sites on the internet.

Beatiful shot today smile I love how so so so soft their faces are and so so so smooth - a black background was excellend choices because they seem to shand out very well.I love the gleams in their faces.Stunning shot - GREAT GREAT SHOT! smile

The navigation - yeah it's great and simple I have no problem with it.How come you suddenly ask?

Have a great weekend smile
Jide Alakija: Background wasn't actually black, those are excess shadows, I think my toning processing created that look too.

Navigation? Well I changed the nav button that were below the image to the top as I realised that not many noticed them in their usual position which was at the bottom. Another thing that is interesting is that many don't notice the "Send ecard" link.
Nice (double) portrait! Very expressive...

Jide Alakija: Thanks michael.

i tend to like ur work but this is not one your greats. I feel the eyes are sharpened too much in regards to the softening of the skin, it gives it eeerie feel. The shot itself is very good.
Jide Alakija: Seems you have a difference of opinion from many, the entire image has been over sharpened and that's because of teh Unsharp mask tool in the shutterchance upload. The high res version is actually quite fine.

Thanks for the comment.

The twinkle in their eyes is beautiful! This is perfect in b&w and I especially love the way these two are arranged so closely to one another. The details like the embroidery and the earrings they wear also add very much interest for me to this shot.

There's something about the eyes that freaks me out...they almost look unreal, however, its a good concept for a shot. I know you like to focus on the eyes but maybe you paid too much attention to them in this shot.

Lovely. As a layman in photography, i dont mind the sharpening of the eyes much (though they do stick out!)but still a gorgeous pic anyday. This is definately my confirmed background pic.
Cute!
beautiful.

Superb composition and lighting, as always, and the subject matter is clearly a winner.

What technique do you use for softening? Is it a Gaussian blurred layer over a sharpened layer, with the eyes on the blurred layer erased? My initial thought was that the softening was too much. Either way, there's just a little too much of a discrepancy between the sharp and the soft, which makes it slightly unnatural for me.

As for navigation keys - I don't think the move improves it. As a technical author, I'd have put the controls where you had them originally, close to the other information about the image. Now you have to scan too far. I hadn't actually noticed them up there.
Jide Alakija: Create 2 more additional layers of your image, apply a Guass blur to them say about 40px, change the blending modes to lighten and darken to one and the other. Then create a new layer altogether. Now Crtl+E on the three new layers (of course you hide the background layer). Then you reduce the opacity afterwards and make the background visible. Don't forget to erase the bits you want sharp in the soft layer.

Done.
