I normally don't have problems with harsh comments on my blog but this time I beg of you to go gentle on me. This was one of the first shots I'd ever taken when I first started shooting back in Jan 2005. I hadn't a clue about compositions let alone how to process colour.

This is a shot I've posted online on my old site but then it was in black and white and wasn't processed properly. I decided to have another crack at it today and I'm pleased with these results.

Now the reason I say go easy on me is because this to some is overkill, to me it's just the Alakija way. Apart from the person in the background it says everything about what I want my wedding photography to be about, capturing moments at they are.

Tell me what you think but also note the Shmood too. ;)

For the rest of you who have been asking, this is an example of what you get when I do a wedding for you. Maybe I'll have more later, who knows.

Post processing: Increase in Dynamic range, facial touch ups, curves for colour correction

I like it, it's got the Alakija signature and it works. Love the smile on the brides face.

Ummm I think I am going to start judging your images not on how I would have done it, or how I would want it to be edited, but judging them based on what I know you can do/ have done.

So juudging this image along the Alakija mould. This is you, your style, even way back then you had already started developing a signature(not the editing) but in the composition.

Good one bro, good one.

Well, too bad my wedding is over. If not I would have send you a plane ticket to the Philippines to cover it !
Your right (except from the man in the background) everything is perfect ! What a happy couple! I hope they are still happy together ! ;-)

Amazing picture. the quality is unbeliebable, and you capture the bride's emotions entirely. If this picture didn't have the guy(s) in the background, it would be PERFECT.

just the right wwwork on W balance wink

nice shot wink
Brilliant shot. It is what one can call a candid potrait. The bride seems to be really happy.
I like your approach at wedding photography: capturing the moments as they happen; capturing that spontaneous emotion. That's what a great wedding photographer does. This is excellent work. The exposure is so fine and the shutter released at the perfect time. Great work, Jide! Cheers, Brent

If there is one thing I really dislike it is faking emotions. That is the reason, I love this picture so much: The expressions look so natural! The man in the background is not distracting to me, though maybe in a photograph taken at a 'wedding in a perfect world', he would not be there ;-). I hope the bride and groom are still as happy as this shot suggests!

I don't think this is overkill at all. The bride looks lovely and genuinely happy - you can tell that worrying about the catering, getting her dress stained, falling flat on her face whilst walking down the aisle etc is the LAST thing on her mind! Hmmm, wonder if I'm getting paranoid? lol. Great picture!

You certainly captured a loving moment here, it's written all over the brides face. These are the sort of images i like to capture at weddings. The traditional group shots have to be taken i suppose, but it's the candid shots like this that bring back the emotion of the day, several years after the event. It helps that the quality of the shot is spot on. The skin tones are a little too warm for me, but that's just me. Great shot! - [Chuks]

I think this is a beautiful shot and the guy in the background doesn't irritate at all. In fact the colour of his shirt sort of picks up the lilac eye-shadow the bride is wearing.

I wouldn't be more pleased with this shot if I were the bride and groom!! It is beautiful. So touching.

Nothing much wrong with this compositionally or any other way as far as I can see.

People in the background? Of course there are - it's a wedding. It would be imperfect without them.
Wonderful work. Im glad you chose colour with her eye shadow and the mans shirt behind her. Nice work.

I don't think you had anything to worry about, regarding negative comments... It's a great shot, nicely lit, well composed and best of all, great expression from the bride. The guy in the back is a minor distraction, but that's not nearly enough to spoil the shot.

Nothing to be harsh about here, it is a delightful photo I would be proud to have taken. Yes this is what weddings are to me, capturing the emotion not the clothing. Crackingshot!

I knew it was going to be fun, exciting and a bit stressful, you know, the "I do" part, but my wedding day turned out to be the best day of my life (at least up to 37, I'm now rounding the bend to 50, ahhh!), so I love to see the joy that day brings. I think wedding photographers should have beepers that sound when marriages go south who can rush in and recast the negative into the positive by looking back on the unbridled happiness that once was, for a fee obviously.

Also, I noticed the range of colors. It just makes it an ever nicer shot. The green stem to the purple eye shadow to that sexy skin color and how the jewlery shows perfecty on her skin. Thats just the colors, her smile says it all.

I would, however, ask to have hear botton set of teeth whitened a tad. Too much would be fake. I know its a shadow or something, but whiter teeth, I think, would look reeal nice with a white gown, white jewlery, earing, and the whiteness of the tux of lucky guy on the right.

Very hard picture to take. So much white and black in this image and you want details in both! You got the exposition right. Add a very nice smile to that and you've got a winner. Great shot.
