National Pride

You can definitely tell that I am in a colourful mood.

Being a Nigerian, the Green-White-Green are national colours that represent Faith, Unity and Peace. If I'm wrong then it means I've spent too much time away from my country. Anyway I thought I'd put this image up to give you some idea of my roots, for those of you that didn't know now you do, that the Nigerian flag has just two colours. Next time you're asked in a trivia, here it is.

Not much to say you can tell.....oh yeah I put up another version which I much prefer but doesn't really stress the point the way this does. What do you think?

Post processing: Selective lens blurring, Curves on the background (variable curves on RGB channels each etc (ask me for more details if you want) Vignetting for framing.

Prefer this version. The other one just screams "I have been processed by Alikija using photoshop". Love the Subtleness of this image.

I Like the rustiness of the green and white bars, reminds me of the rustiness of Nigeria, it's seems to need some good ol paint up and viola, we would have done a patch up job, but you know what? The rustiness still remains underneath

Jide Alakija: Actually Suby the other one hasn't really been processed as much as this one has, this is the over processed version.
Lovely composition, nice dof and the colors are great.

Nice. The guy in the red shirt framed between the bars catches my eye. I like this version better, the saturation on the other one is a bit much.

Never knew that the colours meant something, nice idea behind it.
Hi, Jide. I think I like this version better; too much saturation can be a hard mistress to tame. I think the more authentic colors here help depict the message you're trying to send. I love the minimalism here. It's done very effectively. Regards, Brent

Lovely composition and colours. I think I prefer this version since the point comes across better. Where was this taken?? How do I do vignetting? Well spotted.

An inspirational and unique image. I much prefer this one. The bright red figure in the other one acts as a focal point, drawing your eye in - only to discover that it isn't really a focal point because it is out of focus!

Well, I like this one best, which surprises me a bit because I usually prefer the deeper saturated colors. Either way, I'm ready for that trivia question.

OOOOOh the contrast is stunning - and that shade of green is very rare - you have captured it very well and the saturation is really perfect.Of course I always love blurry out of focus backgrounds smile

Articles like this really garese the shafts of knowledge.
Hi there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form? I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!
