photoblog image Confidence

From the fashion show I have decided to put up more pictures. It's an excuse while I look for more opportunities to photograph and put up. Sorry to bore you with these. I've decided to work extra hard on this one.

I've just recently been playing with the colour balance adjustment layer in photoshop. I used it here to process the blue background as you can see in the image, quite a versatile tool, I've found.

I have some very animated stuff that I think I'll put up tomorrow.....Sorry GeckZ, haven't had the time to shoot new material yet...will look for street stuff this weekend, I promise.

Post processing: Softening, two curves for background and subject, Hue adjustment of foreground and background, Colour balance of background, burning to highlight shadows on jacket, dark gradient on the left for framing.

Jide Alakija: Thanks.
Very nice shot! Love the colours, no negative remarks for me to make at all (even though you're in a angry ShMood).
Jide Alakija: Good and keep it that way! See you tomorrow at 8am PROMPT!

Wow. Very impressive lighting and effect. No flash fired? I never do this well with indoor events.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Janice. No flash fired, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is a very good lens for indoor events, there was also a lot of light on the subject too.
Nice composition and cool lighting too.
Jide Alakija: Thanks

We will get there!

Just noticed his suspenders and belt LOL! In my neighborhood, he might get smacked for dressing like that, smile but hey this is fashion :-D

Nice PP

I like it except it looks a bit artificial expecially in the background, because the character doesn't even remotely blend with it,it seems like the background is digital art and this picture of a man has been stuck on it.Sorry to be rude and a critic but it's just an honest opinion.Otherwsie I really like it.Every photo has it's flaws.
Jide Alakija: Don't be sorry, you are being honest and you have a point about what you are saying. I increased the DOF to the point it looked like he'd been stuck on, also maybe the processing of the background too results in that look. But then again I think that's the effect I was after.

Thanks for your comment.
i like the angle and composition, and u did a great job for colors tone. great capturesmile
Jide Alakija: Thanks.
Alakija, your post-processing skills are in top form. This shot is very good. I would to see the original (see the Wizard from beneath the curtain)! Just great pose and lighting. You did a great job on all the processing elements. His shirt has a lot of dynamic interest in it...was that you too? Very high regards.
Jide Alakija: You flatter me again Brent! Thanks.

Confidence? You'd need it to wear that hat! Super portrait again.

I disagree about the artificial look. On the contrary, I think the processing is so subtle that it makes me feel I'm in the audience looking up at a model in the spotlight against a deliberately darkened and blue-lit venue.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Colin.

great shot. great at taking pictures, great at enhancing them. probably this should have been captioned: pose like mj wink
Jide Alakija: Or pose like Usher. wink
Great shot! Shooting under those conditions is really hard because of the changing light and fast action on-stage!
Jide Alakija: Yup...you are very right. You have to predict the moment before it happens. THanks.

As the phrase goes “you can’t fake the funk”. I’m loving this shot: the colours and the lighting (the blues are electric!), the angle, the subject.
I particularly like your fashion show shots because they don’t look like the typical catwalk stuff - do remember that I want a non-portfolio looking portfolio smile

The blue is cool, as is this shot. Fashion shots always intrigue me. I always like to see people wearing cool clothes, but I never wear anything remotely interesting myself.
