Wheels on a brake

Theme of the Week: Shooting from inside the car

Shot 6: Wheels on a brake

Firstly thank you for all the great comments and critiques that you have left me whilst this series has been on. I know it is hard but the very fact that you have made the effort to leave me a comment means a lot to me.

This shot was taken on my last few days in Lagos last year. I think it speaks for itself. It's another one of those shots where the Okada riders are waiting for customers.

Now I'm not looking for comments like "it should have been this or that..." as I am quite happy with the way it has turned out. If you insist however please feel free to leave one. Also I would like to encourage the others who want to leave a comment but are shy to leave one to say something about the shot. Otherwise enjoy.

Dislaimer: I wasn't driving when this was taken.

More to come tomorrow and 1 more shot left in this series before the next one, this is tough! Please can you at least tell me how I'm doing? I really do value your input....PLEASE!!!!

Is that the equivalent of the local Harley Club? Just kidding.... wink
I know train spotting used to be an hobby in the past - can I say you were "okada-spotting" during your last trip to Lagos? lol!

Ok Jide, this picture should have been.......(only kidding smile ).

Comments.. It's okay... but I have seen stronger stuff from you. So since you do not want comments like "it shld have been..." Will keep them to myself smile

Sinem really likes your images, however in the last few days she says she has not been blown away. Thank God, I am once again her favourite photographer.

I hate criticizing especially when i'm a dodgy photographer myself. however, I feel the picture would say more if you zoomed in on the wheels and ignored the background. it would give a domino effect to the 'okada's'. He says!

You know why you inspire me Jide? because enough times, people try to tell you whats wrong with your work and you carry on regardless, .. What touches me is this.. I admit that your type of photography isnt the type I thought I liked, I really liked YOUR earlier stuff and I always used to think WOW.. but the stuff you've put on lately makes me think and gives more than a first impression, it has a mood and a character and tells a story ..to me, very inspiring, well done dude! (wanted to phrase this better but I'm at work and sooo tired ..hope u get ma drift sha)
That's sweet Folake, I'm not trying to create WOW type photos with this series, just trying to show you some things I've collected over sometime. I'll do the WOW thing sometime soon, maybe after my next series.

Thanks alot everybody.

My entrepreneurial vibe just hovered round me and i thought. Hey Jide you could actually make cool calenders from ur pics. I'll buy one for sure.
What a classic shot; perfect toning. I would normally say the sky is overblown, but here it really works and the subjects are nicely exposed.
Jide Alakija: Twas something I wasn't too sure about myself, but was a candid in a moving car so I had to settle with what i got. Thanks
Lovely tone.

I love this shot!!..the color is right on point too...I think i just have a fondness for "OKADA's"....hehe..but for real tho' it seems very alive..

you know what Jide, I went on a break and all I could see were picture worthy moments..Its funny how ordinary things look better through an artist's eye...Anyway i'm back...and clearly I have some catching up to do!
Jide Alakija: Awww...we missed you, I'm glad you've been inspired on your break. Pick up a camera and shoot!
