I don't think many of you liked my image yesterday so I thought I'd post something different in light of the many suggestions from the image I posted the day before. Thanks for those comments.
Right! today I searched around for something that didn't have that social element to it especially for those that missed some of my still life stuff. Okay this is not exactly that but it's something that's still at least and I need to vary my images a bit, too many portraits.
This is one similar to this image I posted earlier. What attracted me to this one was the displau of detail on the cross section. When I was surveying this one I asked myself...."how could I capture this and also make it interesting?"....this is what I came up with in the end. The original intention was to use it for a monochrome series I was doing originally when I posted this shot, I somehow couldn't get it to look like that, so this had to suffice.
What do you think about it?
(For Atunbi: This was taken with your 24-75mm f/2.8), it's not a bad lens, the only issue I had with it apart from the colour correction I had to do was the amount of vignetting I had to remove especially at f/2.8
Streetphone is back but with a twist this time. I've decided not to use my camera phone anylonger as I'm having problems getting it to connect to my laptop. It's now my Black and White Street photography blog. Check it out
i really like the pattern in the wood. i also really like the way the wood is aged. the wood provides a really nice contrast to the general calmness of the water.
Jide i like the details in the timber and can see why you wanted to capture it. i prefer the angles in the dock scene no2 as it fill the frame better for me. i like the treatment to the water in this one. a tighter crop would be my preference but thats just me.

Hmmmm...I was fixated for a few seconds… before I regained by composure and begun to decide what I made of this shot. The first word that sprung to mind was “solitary”! It is indeed an aesthetically pleasing juxtaposition of the fluidity of the waters and the grittiness of the wood… you captured it brilliantly. It reminds of the Sam Cooke classic -
Looks like nothin's gonna change;
Everything still remains the same.
I can't do what ten people tell me to do,
So I guess I'll remain the same.
Sittin' here restin' my bones,
And this loneliness won't leave me alone.
Two housand miles I roam,
Just to make this dock my home.
Yeah, I'm sittin on the dock of the bay,
Watchin' the tide roll away.
Ooh, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the day,
Wastin' time.

Wow this is amazing, since the last time I've visited this space, seems you've got more and more sophisticated with your shots and processing....keep it up
So this is today's bLOG! Great detail on the wood, but it's not one I'll be remembering, Jide. Sorry. I even think, you, with your skills, could have done more with the composition. Have a good weekend!
