I really should find something rather abstract to shoot. I keep using portraits to bail me out when I have nothing to put up.
This was a shot from a recent photoshoot I had to do for a bag retailer. When the shoot was done, I grabbed the opportunity to get Sarah to provide me with the atmosphere to try some experiments. This is a sample of what she came up with. A good model always makes your job easy. Thanks Sarah.
Overall i like the shot though i do have a few gripes. With the veil/shawl there you should have gone for greater dof. Also your selection is a tad odd as you appear to have her back in sharp focus. What is there of interest in the strap?
Jide Alakija: Focusing through a veil is very challenging. I focused on her face before I too the shot! Mind you she was moving around and I caught this moment. This wasn't a pose!
i know that you were experimenting with portraits a little while back. i think that this is one of your best experiments. i love the way you have captured her face through the veil. i actually really like the dof on this shot. nice work jide.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Nicole. Now I think I'll put up another shot from this shoot tomorrow.
I like how her smile and face is partially showing through the scarf. It jumps out at me with one word - attractive. Very subtle and calm background colours, I like.
Jide Alakija: Thanks Mia. Tomorrow's should be better.
Lovely...but the strap, why does she have a white strap with that top? It just doesn't seem to belong with the outfit...I know it really has little to do with the shot, I just noticed what looks like a strap the doesn't fit with the outfit, and I am not a fashion bug either.
Jide Alakija: Sigh! Oh well then I'm sure tomorrow will help!
Even though I'm all for variety yoy can throw portraits like this at my way any time, no problem...stunning model, great pose, angle,,,just an amazing capture...8.75/10
I love this photo. I think it's fabulous. One of my favorites.
I must ask, could I download this? Feel free to say no, but it wouldn't be for printing or using in any way, just to go into my "inspiration" file. I know I could just keep the link, but a link won't always be there ya know. Let me know if I can
Jide Alakija: I don't see any reason why you couldn't download it.
